Ivy Rose

Formed in July 2009, Ivy Rose is made up of Martina San Diego on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Sarah De Leon on lead guitar, Isabelle De Leon on drums, and Kristine De Leon on bass. What inspired their music? Perhaps it was their attendance of the 2009 Vans Warped Tour...or, just like the story that is continually told, a hummingbird flying by on a summer day invoked the muse in all of them. Nonetheless, contributing each of their talents and creative ingenuity, they establish a sweet rock sound that sometimes takes a darker edge. Their influences? There are many, such as The Cranberries, Meg & Dia, and Vedera, who inspire their sound, but others such as Muse, The Cure, and Hotspur who inspire them to make music. In addition, each member also has her own influences who inspire her as a musician.

While the band has been together for only a little less than a year, their hard work and dedication have allowed them to perform at venues such as DAR Constitution Hall, the D.C. Armory, 9:30 Club, University of Maryland's Byrd Stadium and in cities such as Toronto, ON and New York City. They were the 2010 1st place winners of the Quest Battle of the Bands in Damascus, MD, 2010 2nd place winners of the Next Big Thing Tour Battle of the Bands at the 9:30 club in D.C., and won UMD's SEE 2010 Battle of the Bands which earned them the opening spot at UMD's Art Attack XXVII where they opened for Ben Folds and Weezer. They have also performed with acclaimed acts such as Kitchie Nadal, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, and the AJ Rafael band.

Coming together one memorable summer day, who would've thought they could finish their debut album "This Adventure" so fast? In their free time, they enjoy going to concerts, making skirts, eating, and being with friends and family.
