Bio

The name Iyadede (pronounced E-ya-day-day) was given to her by her grandmother because it means “ nobody but Dede can walk in Dede’s shoes”--and Iyadede has walked many miles. She has journeyed from Rwanda, where she was born; to Belgium, where she escaped a genocide, to America and finally Brooklyn where she ARTS today.
Artistic expression is a compeling force for the warrior princess. Asked how she came to music, she' ll say “through her pregnant mother’s belly," a DJ at Rwandan National Radio back in the days when TV was too expensive for the average Rwandan and radio was THE entertainment.
Her talent for composing melodies and writing lyrics has led Iyadede to collaborate with an exhaustive list of European artists in diverse genres, including internationally known Zap Mama. She has toured the world, performing on numerous stages in the US, Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland and Israel.
Strong from that international experience, Iyadede is ready to release a new chapter in her journey entitled, TALKING TO GOD.
Iyadede is talking to the God in everyone of us...ironically, boldy, sincerely in an incredibly creative form.
TALKING TO GOD is an unapologetic patchwork of styles born of bold subjects, creative vocals and backed by heavy basses and subtle electronic arrangementS.
Iyadede collaborated with talented, eclectic producers Blessoill (NYC musician by way of New Orleans) and Abdul (Nigerian born, DC producer). The result is 15 genre bending tracks for listeners of all ages and tastes.
Iyadede is walking an uncharted path uniquely tailored for someone with her creative gift , multi-cultural perspective and international experience.
