"New Band Of The Week"

Izabo are perhaps the most unlikely Band of The Week we’ve featured on Shiny Shiny New so far, mixing middle Eastern beats and sounds with Talking Heads style arrangements they’re for want of better words, fucking fantastic. Oh and they’re from Tel Aviv…yep. With a sound that sits nicely alongside recent favorites Unknown Mortal Orchestra they’re psychedelic yet accessible, a rare achievement by itself, but far more than that they’re not just looking backwards for inspiration but instead in just about every direction you could possibly imagine. If you want a good example ‘On My Way’ starts with a glitchy phone beep beat, goes straight into Trashbirds style surf guitars then transforms into Arctic Monkeysesque highs before falling into a gorgeous arabic shuffle all the while maintaining it’s identity as a insanely catchy piece of indie goodness. Gold stars for achievement all round. - Shiny Shiny New

"On The Radar - Izabo"

Israeli band Izabo are offering their latest EP as a free download if you ‘friend’ them on Facebook. This 3-song EP is a scrumptious slice of quirky indie pop; Izabo excel at balmy, buoyant guitar pop songs, with prominent keyboards and kazoo-like background vocals. They favor the Starlight Mints quite a bit, in both their song structures and the vocal timbre of lead singer Ran Shem-Tov, but also incorporate elements of disco and Middle Eastern music. - On The Radar

"Izabo Summer Shade Video & EP"

Izabo have made their latest EP entitled ‘Summer Shade’ available for fans on their official Facebook page. The Israeli alternative quartet have been tipped as ‘Israel’s best export since The Bible’ and have recently been impressing UK audiences with their laid back and undeniably unique style.

The ‘Summer Shades’ EP is a three track collective featuring the title track of the same name. It’s a timely taster of something new, different and quite fitting with the summer season practically upon us (though the weather seems to think differently… again).

The EP itself is a beautiful chunk of alternative pop magic, swirling with Middle Eastern tradition and a whole heap of sparking guitar arrangements and added funky bass. The washed out mellow yet intriguing vocals provided by frontman Ran Shem pull you into a world of exploration and entice you to enjoy and experience the summer shade with Izabo for yourselves.

Constantly on the road, Izabo have been touring non-stop around Europe showcasing their catchy and expertly crafted creations to the masses, performing at festivals including Eurosonic and Paleo festival. Their debut studio album is due out next year along with the first announcement regarding UK live dates. Excited? So you should be.

To grab yourself a free copy of the Summer Shades EP, simply head over to Izabo’s ‘Summer Shade’ Facebook app here and click the ‘like’ button. How much simpler could it be for such a wonderful deal in return? We know, it’s amazing.

Izabo are fastly securing themselves as a firm one to watch across the country, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘Omar Souleyman’ effect we’ve seen on the UK shores in the past couple of years happened to be replicated by these bright young talents. - Clixie
