Bio

J. Mood is a 24 year old hip hop artist who currently resides in Leesburg, Va. Born in Washington D.C., J. Mood has resided in D.C., Seat Pleasant, and Lanham, MD in his very younger years of life. J. Mood was brought up by a single parent in his mother with much help from his grandmother as his father was in and out of his life until mid college career. J. Mood grew up in Arundel County as he resided in Crofton, MD from the year 2000 until around 2006. HE attended Arundel High school until around 2007 where he moved to Leesburg, VA to attend Stone Bridge high school for his last high school years. J. Mood has been freestlying and writing from as early as 12. At about 15 he performed for his first time at Arundel's Talent show and put together his own small demo built on covers of old classic records. After leaving Arundel, finding himself in an even more predominantly white school, J. Mood put down the mic and focused on his football career. After winning a State championship and riding the bench on an D1 filled roster, he decided to attend Bridgewater College (a small D3 school in the Harrisonburg area) to play football and study Engineering. After plenty of major changing, last summer he finally graduated with an Information Systems Management degree. After riding the bench freshman year, he went on be a 3 time started at offensive guard and a 1 time All-State/All-Conference lineman. Around his sophomore year of college, he had a roommate (Cornell Wade) that discovered a passion for music. He started making beats as J. Mood would rap over them and make tracks during their free time. By the end of that school year, J. Mood committed to Cornell's label, I.M.A.S.T.A (I Must Always Strive To Achieve) in which J. Mood released a joined mixtape (IMASTA Ent presents The Appetizer) and 2 solo mixtapes (The Offseason, The Offseason 2) under the label. Shortly after college graduation J. Mood and IMASTA Ent parted ways. During that period of time, J. Mood started a few trend including the phrases "We Workin", "#JMOODMONDAY", and "High Flyers". J. Mood eventually made High Flyers into his own brand in which he makes music under as well as host parties and events that bring positivity to his NOVA community. J. Mood's biggest rap influences include Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, T.I., Fabolous, and Ludacris. His influences also include some of the modern rappers of today such as J. Colee, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and D.C.'s own Wale. At this point, J. Mood has reached a few milestones such as reaching 20K pllus on his most recent video "One Mic" as well as opening up for Diggy Simmons, and 2 Chains in Dec. 2014. If you study J. Moods music before now, most songs are covers that J. Mood used to show what he can do. Now that he's graduated college, hes able to dive into some original tracks and tell more of his story rather than just simply rap on beats. This will be displayed in J. Mood's newest EP "Feel the Mood" set to release at the end of the year. The EP will include J. Mood popular remak of "One Mic" as well as productions from J Staffz, Tone P, and Ys on the track.
