J.O.L.L.Y

Shanequa "J.o.l.l.y"  Porter, was Born and raised in the tough street's of Flint, MI. Although the city has been one of the murder capital's for years and seem to be as "citizens" would say (The valley of the shadow of death), J.o.l.l.y never let that stop her from achieving her dreams and goals. J.o.l.l.y was born March, 22 1991; as a youngster she new she had a special talent but did not know what this talent was. At the age of 8 her father was sent to prison for 10yrs, although j.o.l.l.y was a bit to young to understand everything she pretty much knew that it would be the last time she saw her father for at least the next 10yrs. By the time J.o.l.l.y was 9 she notice that alot of songs she would here growing up explained what she was dealing with, even helped her overcome some situations. By the time she was 12yrs old J.o.l.l.y knew that music was something that interested her and a way to express her feelings. She began to write her first song with her mother's baby father son Dominique a.k.a D.story, although D.story helped her write her first lyrics he knew she had talent and there was something very special about her talent. Although J.o.l.l.y has found her 'calling" trouble & heartache also always seem to find her along the way. Also, at 12yrs old J.o.l.l.y came out to her family that she was a lesbian and instead of Love and support all she dealt with was peer pressure, hate, disowned etc. J.o.l.l.y had already been dealing with molestation and beatings at 12 and now to come out as a lesbian put the icing on the cake of her troubles. By this time j.o.l.l.y has had enough of feeling alone and left out so she took it upon herself to get jumped into the gang that is known as the "Crips. There is a long list of trial and tribulations that she had to continuously go through but as most artist J.o.l.l.y continued to take her anger and pain the booth. she is very smart, strong minded, humbled and a lovable person but also has the heart of a lion. As of today J.o.l.l.y thanks God for each day and strives to get her messages heard or even possibly help others get through tough times as much as it helped her growing up.
