Modern electro rhythms in a John Tejada style mesh with hip hop rhymes for the new sound of Guidance. Jaba Jones' vocals offer a nice twist, while the dub strips things down to simply the sweet pads and processed beat patterns. "Jason Priestley's Car" commands the flip with crisp ring mod tones and metallic rhythms for those of you who appreciate the darker side of the electro revolution.

Senti/Mental Journey is on fire and greatly embraced by both hip-hop heads and the dance crowds. The beat is definitely alive and thumping, and the vocals of JabaJones are slick and old school. She's one of the best female emcees on the scene. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform in Brooklyn in November. The energy makes for a great collaberative effort. Five stars!!!!!!

Guidance Recordings is proud to reintroduce Pete Prezzano aka PONG and Onazze, to the Guidance Recordings roster. And what a reintroduction! Three cuts of body-rocking, electro-boogie in the style of such NYC electro greats Man Parrish and Newcleus for those of you who think "electro" has been bastardized and cheapened by the recent onslaught of eye-liner championing new wave tribute groups. This is raw and gritty urban old-school funk, featuring the wicked and witty lyrics of Chicago's own furiously female mic wrecker, Jaba Jones. . The instrumental comes complete with vocodered chorus and Pong's icey Windy City breaks. Jason Priestley's Car is a tribute to the Porsche crashing ex-90210 star. Shuttering metallic breaks, glitchy clicks, automotive whirrs and robo-disco vocals round this out nicely. A "Warm Leatherette" for the 90210 generation, J.G. Ballard would be proud.

I am inspired by Dorothy Dandrige, Josephine Baker, Diana Ross, and Nina Simone. These are the women that I model myself after. I would like to think of myself as a good songwriter inspired by songs written by Stevie Nicks, Johnny Cash, The Stapel Singers, Nina Simone, and Ray Charles. I translate these authentic and classic influences into a hip-hop blend of tough beats and love lyrics. I was born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma. I left to attend The School of the Art Institute of Chicago as an abstract painter at the age of 18. While in Chicago I was drawn to the underground hip-hop scene and began to battle emcees at open mics and eventually I was headlining in live stage shows.
