"JACKAL & HYDE - THE BADLANDS ALBUM REVIEW"

One of the biggest names to come up on the Electro circuit in the past few years is Florida's Jackal N Hyde, and it's no wonder why they have done so. Scott Weiser and Todd Walker have released some of the biggest Electro anthems to come out of the US and this CD serves as an overview of those hits plus a few new treats. After the intro, this CD starts of with "Beyond" a hard Electro rocker which is guaranteed to tear up any dancefloor, home or otherwise. After that comes J&H's remix of Whodini's classic "The Freaks Come Out At Night". This mix, which turns the original into a vocoded vocal banger that serves as an excellent update. Then comes the production work for which Jackal N Hyde is most known for, their remix of Biochip C's "Go Bang". This track is probably one of the biggest hits to come out of any of the various styles of Electro in the past few years. The only recommendation I have for this one is to make sure that you have a good system for it because it will devastate any unworthy system. Next up comes the Industrial-based "Pied Piper". This track is a change of direction for the duo, one which shows promise. If they keep this up then pretty soon people will be saying "Trent who? Nine inch what???" Very Nice. After that comes "Seek and Destroy" and "Get Down to my Technique", both of which are consistent with the quality that people have come to expect from these two. Both of which are dark Electro stormers that are guaranteed to leave holes in speakers. Finally this CD closes out with the House Wrecka's remix of "Seek and Destroy". This chunk of hard house sounds like it would fit on the decks of a DJ like Bad Boy Bill or Richard "Humpty" Vission. Very nice. Overall this is one of the best Electro CD's to come out and it is an album that has been begging for a release for a long time. All in all this comes with a very high recommendation. - JIVE MAGAZINE - MICHAEL HARMON

"ELECTRO-DUO JACKAL & HYDE SPLITS FROM THE PENINSULAR PACK."

Scott Weiser and Todd Walker never agree about what to call their music. But the Jackal & Hyde duo from Tampa is certain of what it is not. Their Sunshine State of mind is just a geographical happenstance, not a musical one. Try to peg their sound as Florida-style electronica and Weiser pounces. "We do not make any type of cheesy Florida breaks," he insists. "We just happen to live here."

Along with a handful of Florida electronic outfits like Rabbit in the Moon and Phoenecia, Jackal & Hyde claims outsider status. "We could live in Antarctica and we would be making the same thing we're making," Weiser says. It's "a hard music that's still danceable, not just distorted mayhem," the electrocore pioneer says while toking on a cigarette. "And still has the ability to move people on the dance floor. It's definitely a difficult combo to achieve. It's hard to make really hard, aggressive music yet still have it be danceable and liked by the masses. While keeping it electronic."

The danceable electro beats tinged with dark industrial sounds make for listener appeal that goes beyond the clubbing crowd. "So we're keeping our techno crowd and we're gaining college radio fans at the same time," he explains. The balance between the two genres also plays off the duo's musical background -- Weiser's aggressive electro/industrial mainframe and Walker's Miami ghetto/bass effects -- with a signature funk element to boot.

Last year, the group debuted the full-length The Badlands on the Tampa-based Hallucination label, which was co-founded by Rabbit and the Moon members Steve McClure, a.k.a. Monk, and David Christophere. Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst sought out Jackal & Hyde to remix "Rollin" and allowed Jackal & Hyde to include the track on The Badlands, which also features a remix of Kid Rock's "Pimp of the Nation.
Jackal & Hyde plans to release its sophomore effort, Malfunction, in the next few months. Weiser jokes that it's not exactly American Idol, then adds that it's aggressive and over-the-top. Tampa-based fetish fave the Genitorturers and lead singer/dominatrix Gen appear on "Lecher Bitch" and "Deceiver." Weiser is currently co-producing the Genitorturers' new album. - NEW TIMES MAGAZINE - BY LEAH GLINIEWICZ

"THAT BUZZ YOU HEAR? IT'S A SWARM OF MUSICIANS DESCENDING ON SOUTH BEACH"

Hallucination Recording Artists Jackal and Hyde have been referred to as "the purveyors of the hardcore-electro sound" (or "Electro-Core.") Earth-shattering bass, slamming beats, dark and twisted stabs, and mind blowing visuals are all part of a typical Jackal & Hyde show. And at this years Winter Music Conference Jackal & Hyde will be showcasing their powerful sound and visuals at Level night club along with Rabbit in the Moon and other heavy hitters from abroad.

Formed in 1998 by Scott Weiser (Jackal) and Todd Walker (Hyde), Jackal & Hyde are on a mission to push the limits in dance music. Their powerful music appeals to B-Boy break dancer types, head-bobbing techno/house freaks and old school Industrial-heads alike. Infusing industrial-strength electro break beats with sinister keys is the formula few have been able to emulate, keeping J&H in high demand by fans, artists and DJ's the World over. Limp Bizkit, No Doubt, Kid Rock and label mates Rabbit in the Moon have all sought remixes from Jackal & Hyde among others.

Scott Weiser (Jackal), whom many know from the infamous Dynamix II has been writing and producing music for well over a decade. Weisers biggest influences are classic Industrial to ancient Electro. Todd Walker (Hyde) brings in the Florida influence of Miami Ghetto Bass and Industrial Dance. Together the two have put together an amazing powerful live show backed up with incredible visual from Hallucination on Film.

Bio

Jackal & Hyde have been called "the purveyors of the hardcore-electro sound" (Electro-core), a combination of industrial laden electro beats and psychotic keys. Jackal & Hyde was formed in 1998 by partners Scott Weiser, and Todd Walker in an effort to combine a harder edge sound with the dance floor sensibility of Electro/Industrial and Techno. Besides their original work, Jackal & Hyde's sound has been requested for multiple remix productions including No Doubt, Love & Rockets, Kid Rock and Genitorturers among others.

Together, Jackal & Hyde have had a string of successful records out on Hallucination Recordings owned by techno gurus, Rabbit in The Moon. Their songs have been licensed by many of the top DJ's in the World for a wide array of compilations by the likes of West Bam, Andrew Weatherall, Taylor, and 'Hero of Hard-core' Omar Santana to name a few. Their new album (due out spring 2007) has been 3 years in the making and includes some of the hardest electronic music ever made. Jackal & Hydes shows are known for cutting edge, in your face music and unbelievable visuals by Hallucination on film. They have had just about every World Renown Electro/Techno/Industrial/Break Beat/Hard House DJ open for them, and have Co-headlined Live with a wide variety of bands from BT, Genitorturers and Kottonmouth Kings to Prodigy, Tech N9NE and Rabbit in the Moon at venues all throughout the U.S. and abroad.
