Jack Connolly & The Gas Station Cowboys are more than just a country-rock band: As performers, the band looks outward, seeking to bring the same energy, passion and joy to the audience that inspired them to play in the first place. Proudly and unapologetically Canadian, they unite our musical landscape by drawing on coastal folk, prairie country and city rock to form the basis of their sound while paying tribute to the vital influence of new and international music which continues to drive the musical and cultural innovation this country is known for.
The band cut its teeth working the late night crowds at the Corral in Oshawa and indeed it seems appropriate that half the band was born and raised in what was once known as "The City In Motion". Listeners can "Prepare To Be Amazed" by Nathan Whitney on lead guitar, weaving intricate and exciting phrases with the toughness and finesse earned in the field from seedy bar to arena stage. Brian on bass, also born in Oshawa, is the anchor and provides the rest of the band and the audience with a platform from which to launch their best selves for a meeting of the minds and spirit.
Jack Connolly grew up playing coffee houses, concert halls, and folk festivals on the West Coast of British Columbia. Since moving to the GTA in 2009 and falling in love with the vast musical and social landscape, he has continued to be inspired by his country and music from its every corner, writing and performing with a broad range of musicians in southern Ontario and beyond.
Mike on drums is a Toronto boy and drives the band with all the intensity of a city on the edge. Drawing from a huge pallet of international influences, he brings much more than rhythm to Jack Connolly & the Gas Station Cowboys.
In January 2012 Jack signed with Toronto based Curve Music and is currently in the final stages of completing his 4th album tentatively titled "Great Big Soul" with producer John Ellis (Doc Walker, Ridley Bent, Tara Oram) to be released in September, 2013 and distributed by Sony Music.
