"Jackfish River - EP Review"

JACKFISH RIVER - Jackfish River (Indie) SOUNDS LIKE: A great mix of Everlast and Godsmack with a cowboy twist and a funky beat. WHY/ WHY NOT: Upon hearing Jackfish River for the first time, I started to reminisce about the days of country/hip hop/rock artist Everlast. However, the more you listen to Jackfish River, the more you will realize that these guys are something more - a lot more. The sounds are a mix of very groovin' beats, fat bass, and lickin' guitar licks. The clever lyrical rhymes and the powerful voice of Jackfish himself tie this whole thing into a very tight knot. Songs like "Overreacted" and "Came to Fight" really stand out, showing this band's diversity in songwriting and the types of songs they produce, each with a distinct feel. Jackfish River should not be overlooked, and I can guarantee that after you give this CD a spin, there will be at least one song that you will want to hear over and over. - Raph Nogal - Soundproof Magazine - Ralph Nogal - Soundproof Magazine

Bio

Enter the dark and befuddled world of the JackFish!
Bursting from the gates in 2008, JackFish River is rapidly making waves in the Toronto indie rock music scene.
Bringing the world of Jackfish River to life is an energetic and engaging group or professional musical bandits. With grins from ear-to-ear, Brett “Jackfish” Kingswell, Rob “Reverend Funk” Melvin, Shane “Shakin’ Jamaican” Forrest and Leo “Meximus”
Zayas each play a crucial character within the woven story of a tight and vibrant musical posse.
Influences abound, this unique ensemble showcases a thoughtful blend of rock with a home grown dash of
blues and a pinch of country. The result is an intriguing Canadian music experience coined “Northern Rock” by the band.
Chronicled by the distinct and infectious voice of the JackFish, catchy tunes such as “Came to Fight” have fans chanting it’s chorus after a single listen while killer rock riffs in “Overreacted” inspire seas of happy, bobbing heads.
With fierce dedication and determination for success, and several fantastic live shows in the GTA including a string at the Horsehoe, the Rivoli, a NXNE show, opening for Edwin of I Mother Earth @ the Tattoo Rock Parlour...and many more, Jackfish River has established a solid, devoted and continually growing fan base. This support for the band has been inspirational and gives JackFish River the momentum necessary to set them apart from the rest.

Once the hooks are set, you will never leave Jackfish River!
