"Legendary Bluesman 'Blind Mississippi Morris', on James King"

"I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with James King at B.B. King's Blues Club in Memphis. James is a great blues vocalist with an electric stage presence. He is welcome to join me onstage any time."

""Erin, Ontario Loves James King and the Jackhammers""

“For the second year in a row, James King and the Jackhammer Blues Band wowed the crowd at the Erin Rhythm and Ribs Fest. Erin Ontario loves James King and the Jackhammer Blues Band, and can't wait for their return to next summer’s festival!”

Blind Mississippi Morris - Legendary Bluesman

James King and the Jackhammer Blues band is an original 4 piece power blues band infusing personality-driven contemporary roots rock music with influences from Texas blues, Memphis Blues, as well as gospel, soul, vintage and southern rock.
.
Inspired by blues legends like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Blind Mississippi Morris, Bobbie Mercy Oliver, Willie Dixon, etc. as well as by contemporary blues-rockers like Stevie-Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, Bonamassa, Haynes, and Trucks, they ignite the old-school blues standards, but clearly this is NOT your grandfather's blues band.
.
One interviewer recently said: "James King and the Jackhammer Blues Band' sounds like the love-child that would result from ZZ Top and Stevie Ray hooking up for a wild weekend with Muddy Waters."
.
The Jackhammer Blues Band brings together Jim Mann on guitar, whose powerful ,sizzling leads, double trouble shuffle, and thick bluesy riffs soar and absolutely elevate the music.
.
The tight ryhthm section features Kevin Mulligan, whose many years experience at the drumkit with bands like Tres Hombres and Darkest Side of The Moon is obvious, showing he is just as comfortable carving a deep groove or a bluesy shuffle as he is attacking a power-rock ballad to get the audience jumping.
.
While Ralph Johnson lays down a thick, powerful foundation on both electric and stand-up bass, fusing his formal training and years of experience, ranging from the symphony hall to the blues stage, all to maximum advantage.
.
And then there's James King - what is there to say about 'Canada's Blues King'? That huge staggering voice you love has matured, delivering more soulful and compelling vocal magic than ever, and now paired with this exciting band of experienced blues pros - it's a powerful combination that delivers!
.
Songs are written and a new CD is in development, and upcoming showcases include bar and club gigs around Toronto and Southern Ontario, along with Blues Festivals dates this summer.

Rocking, soulful, musically complex - 'King-Size Blues' done right!
