Lyrics

Fidelity

Written By: Jackie Smith

You left your fidelity, and all the things you thought I was
On top of, thousand thread count indignity
You make liars out of us
And we’re re-writing scriptures, that I thought were set in stone
You make a beautiful Cain, and we’re both able when we are alone

And we both lie, just a little
To get by a little longer
And we both die just a little,
at the thought of what we have done
To fidelity

I know you, console you, devour you whole
You crave me please, save me, pretend to let me in
You just never let me in
And why do we speak? When our words mean nothing at all?
They’re just empty things we breathe to convince ourselves it’s not our fault.

When we lie just a little,
To get by a little longer
And we both die just a little,
at the thought of what we have done
To fidelity

How can this be wrong, if we cannot move on

We both have loyalties that with every touch we stretch them til they break
Yours are to someone else I’ve never seen and mine are just to me
I just break myself it seems.

When I lie, just a little
To get by a little longer
And we both die just a little,
at the thought of what we have done
To fidelity

Impossible Goodbye

Written By: Jackie Smith

You could tell me anything
All the lies you wanna spin
Webs of words that I’m caught in completely
Cast your line and reel me in
So I forget how hard it’s been
To fall so fast away from sin discreetly

And you’re such a sad idea
You’re a mess I’d have to clean-up
Gonna be broken bad
Even a fool could see that but

I am wicked, I am wise
You’ll find me out in time
It’s such a shame you’ll never be mine
You got me so stuck on hello
Now all that’s left to say to you is
An impossible goodbye

My armor thrown down to the floor
Suddenly I’m not so sure
Of the odds that you could fight my logic for me
Doing what I can to cut to your core
Is it so easy to ignore
The truth that I’ve been pouring on you crudely

And I knew I couldn’t win this
Love is always just a hit or miss
Gonna break me up bad
Even a fool could see that but

Chorus

Bridge:
Never thought that I could be so content with your distractions
Waiting on every move you make, for every reaction
Let me sleep
Just leave me dreaming

Chorus 2x

NY State

Written By: Jackie Smith

You wake up alone, but not really
You wake up with me, every now and again
You wake up afraid, that I’ve stuck to your skin
And that she will feel me in the flecks of blue I leave in your eyes, every time

I’m your NY, She your Massachusettes
But you come to me for comfort every now and again
But I do not come unless your there to guide me
But it’s not fair cause you’ll leave when she beckons that you should be there

NY fades away, when Massachusettes decides you should stay
And what am I supposed to do
With these I.O.U.s and these feeble mistakes?
But one thing holds true, when she is through breaking you
You’ll come to find, you redefine, NY state of mind

I am in love, and you are indifferent
But when you’re in trouble there’s one space, one face you always find, and that’s mine
So maybe someday when I am done falling making mistakes,
You’ll see the pieces of us that you left are all that I need to keep me at night

NY fades away, when Massachusettes decides you should stay
And what am I supposed to do
With these I.O.U.s and these feeble mistakes?
But one thing holds true, when she is through breaking you
You’ll come to find, you redefine, NY state of mind

I’m counting ever second every touch, every glance, every moment you give me
To prove to myself I know you better held you longer feel you deeper than she does
Tell me I’m not kidding myself
Tell me I’m not kidding myself
Because NY longs for a piece of those Southern skies I’ve romanticized about.

NY fades away, when Massachusettes decides you should stay
And what am I supposed to do
With these I.O.U.s and these feeble mistakes?
But one thing holds true, when she is through breaking you
You’ll come to find, you redefine, NY state of mind
