Jackie Treehorn is a totally fantastic funkadelic/soultastic/rockaphonic 7 piece sound-storm, based in Vancouver, B.C.

Starting with a few friends who met at Selkirk College, this band formed from the sweet mutations of a variety of different bands and different people. But it was last year that the current roster was posted up on the board.

Lapslide and keys (Adam Kerby), sax (Lorick Russow), trumpet (Ashley Robyn Slater), trombone (Chelsea Burden), bass (Geoffrey Leathwood), guitar (Kevin Sanders), drums (Derek Van Deursen) and 4 vocalists (Slater, Kerby, Burden and Russow) bring a whole lot of whallop to your earholes. The band squeezes all 7 members for material, making the mix truly eclectic and exciting. With songs ranging from rock-gospel anthems in which your friends are the object of worship, to straight up songs of funky conquest where the brain is the thang that turns you on, its a great big mix bag of feel-good for 2010. Modern ideas to classic grooves: that's the JTH way. But it doesn't stop there: JTH has been known to mix in the likes of Aretha Franklin, Fleetwood Mac, The Talking Heads, Marvin Gaye, and Carole King to their ever expanding list of homegrown grooves. A dance party is sure to break out when Jackie Treehorn hits the stage.

Jackie Treehorn has been gigging regularly all over Vancouver; from regular Wednesday night stints on Main St. to outdoor festivals on the mainland and Vancouver Island. The band will be releasing their debut album, We Are Jackie Treehorn, this June to launch their summer tour. They were recently chosen as a top 20 finalist in the Shore 104.3 Song Search Contest. The fan base grows with every show, expanding the JTH universe a little more each day...

Brain Juices

Written By: Adam Kerby

Why don't you show me a little bit of your brain baby?
Why don't you show me a little bit of your brain?
I see her dancing on the floor
I've never seen another human being groove like that before
We start dancin' everything is gettin' nice and tight
Movin in and everything's alright now nice and tight
Then we move to get a drink and start to chat in line
All smooth until she attempts to speak her so-called mind
See, I love the sound of her voice, but man, she's got nothin' to say
With all the looks in the world and no brains, beauty seems to fade

(OW!)

Why don't you show me a little bit of your brain baby?
Why don't you show me a little bit of your brain?

New girl, scopin' out the scene
She wears an artist's hat, her drink is neon green
We start talkin' and her wit is as sharp as a knife
Movin' in and everything's alright now nice and tight

Next thing you know, we're at her door she's fumbling' with the lock
Invites me in for an evening of Rachmaninoff, Chicago Blues and scotch
She kisses me and lightning tingles through my spine
I grabbed her close, held her tight, I looked her in the eye, I said

I like your body, I like your soul, but there's one thing, that I like most of all
It's your brain juices!
Yeah, your brain juices.. What you got to say, Ashley??

I won't hate won't hesitate to appreciate this confessed mandate
I take the chance to scantily dance
You can take a second glance if you make your advance
I've heard lines before from dudes lookin' to score
But I'm a bit of whore for a man who knows his way around a metaphor
So I'll take that drink, hope my breath don't stink
Cause I never have been a girl to deny a man who love the way that I think

So I hold my breath and take his words like a sponge
. and if this feeling lingers then this bitch'll take the plunge
I will open my heart, possibly my legs
. and when the morning comes, this fucker's cookin' my eggs!
You can love my tits, you can love my style
But the only thing makin' it worth my while
Is if you love the brain juices, cause nothing seduces
An educate bitch knows what a confidence boost is

I like your body, I like your soul, but there's one thing, just one thing
That I like more

I like your body, I like your soul, but there's one thing, that I like most of all
It's your brain juices!

Better Get To Livin'

Written By: Adam Kerby

Better Get to Livin'

Movin other people's houses, in 38 degrees

Sweatin' hard, nearly passing out, 'nough to bring me to my knees

I get so tired, and my head goes underground

playing the victim, I don't want anyone around

Went to my baby's, told her "Life's so hard!"

She stared right at me, said, "I hope that's not the kind of man you are!

When you get knocked down, you gotta get back on your feet.

When there's bad mojo goin' round, you gotta get right out yo seat.

'Cause there's only two things, there's only two things you can do

The simple choice, my love, I leave it up to you:"

Better get to Livin' or get to dyin'

Better start givin up, or stop tryin'

Fightin' with my brother, said some things I regret

There's no forgiveness there, I haven't phoned him yet

My heart gets heavy and my emotions start to rule

everything gets quite perplexing, callin' everyone a fool

(everyone but myself that is)

I went to my mama's, said "what am to do?

Nobody knows me they all treat me like some kinda tool" She said,

"Life ain't for winnin' and you can't be right all the time,

You better show some forgiveness, you can't be fighting on all sides.

There's only two things, there's only two things you can do,

The simple choice, my love, I leave it up to you"

Better get to Livin' or get to dyin'

Better start givin up, or stop tryin'

You better get a hold, before you lose control

You can lose this old world, but don't lose your soul.
