"La Découverte de la chanson de Magog"

The Découverte de la chanson de Magog, in Quebec, was a tremendous experience for the Jack Lavoie Band.
Magog Song Discovery Festival judges described the Jack Lavoie Band as “a pleasure to watch.” They noted that the band’s “good flow” and “lively presentation” was “easy to listen to” and appealed “to all age groups.”
The Jack Lavoie Band picked up the Public’s Choice Award for their performance in the semi-finals and took home the Straight From the Heart Award for their performance in the finals.

Bio

Jack Lavoie grew up in Quebec City and was raised in an active and creative , bi-cultural and bilingual family. True to the classic story, he first fell into music with his brother as a teenager when they pooled their resources and shared a single guitar. Jack followed his fingers and his heart into writing, composing and performing his own songs.

He released his debut album New Warning in 2003, and 2004 saw his song Reason from this album earn him an honorable mention award in the John Lennon Song Writing Contest.

In 2005 Lavoie went back to the writing block and finished recording his second album. Released in July 2006, La Pura Vida produced two Billboard World Song Contest acclaimed songs in A Fine Summer's Day and The Simple Things. The French version of A Fine Summer’s Day got extensive radio play .

Road trips were part of 2007 and 2008 ;Lavoie unplugged his Fender and dusted off his LarivĂŠe and "acousticated" his music. Highlights included Festival de la Releve ,Thetford Mines, QC, and the Black Sheep Inn (Wakefield).
On June 1st, 2009, Lavoie launched his song for peace Bring Your Boys Home from the John And Yoko Suite at the Queen E. in Montreal 40 years to the day after John and Yoko had recorded their message to the Universe Give Peace a Chance.

October 2010 saw Lavoie's song HEAL chosen to David Suzuki's Playlist for the Planet Songwriting Contest. The Playlist for the Planet Album was released in the spring of 2011 on iTunes and includes songs by Great Big Sea, Bruce Coburn,and Joel Plaskett and ....Jack lavoie

Jack Lavoie is currently working on his third album Out of the Box.
