Biography

Born in Alsace, at the foothills of the Vosges mountains. He left home in 1980 to begin his musical career, touring all over Europe as a bassist/guitarist, and later as an acclaimed composer and producer. While doing studio sessions, live TV shows, and composing soundtracks, Jackson gained solid experience in the music industry.

Owner of the Star Track Studio he's actually producing Soundtracks for French TV reports and Raphaëlle Dess "The one" for the Alsacian label Arteis/Koonda Music. He released recently the albums "The party ain't over yet" for Texan singer & fiddler John Permenter.

His biggest musical revelation came during a long trip through Australia. While staying at Malakoff Station near Cloncurry he heard for the first time Australian Country Music. It was the beginning of a great adventure. Back home, deeply inspired by photos of the outback, he wrote his first songs “The Lonely Bushman”, “This is Love”, and then his first album “The Game”, recorded in 1997 by Skip Mitchell at The Reflections Studio in Nashville, TN. Over the years Jackson Mackay recorded 4 albums and has earned the reputation as a honest and sensible performer. He has never forgotten what the bush brought to him: a sound, a spirit, and the inspiration of honest people living on our beautiful planet.

Jackson is working on a future album "West" including song and poetry about bush and deserts. He'll be on the road thru Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico to pick up the inspiration of the fantastic west.

Lyrics

At the window

Written By: Duisit / Mackay

Even today, I still don’t understand
What it was came spinning over me
Suddenly blues, and it was you I needed
First love, I needed you so urgently

We parted long ago, but
Not because our love was spent
But for the roads that will diverge
Into our seperate worlds we went

I’m married now, all is well
My children’s laughter fills the hall
And I’m sure not leaving
My love’s beside me after all
Still I turn, I turn
To the window...

At the window
A whisper of snow
Enchants the ordinary day
At the window
My eyes caress the branches
Where the last leaves refuse to fall away,
Refuse to fall away ...

Did I need that day just to hold you
Just to know that you’re still there
And to lean into your shoulder once again
To lean into you, touch your face, to smell your hair...

Winter sun pour in on me
A stranger, here in my own home,
Confused and frozen, warm me now, for
Surrounded by my loved ones, I’m alone
And I turn, I turn
To the window...

Already seven

Written By: Duisit, Mackay / Mackay

It’s Sunday evening
I look to my watch
It’s already seven
I’m thinking too much
I stand in the doorway
Turn my face to the breeze
Outside the wind blows
And chases away
All the leaves
Of the old trees
The night is falling
And I take up my watch

It’s already seven
I wait for the night
Cause love had no time and passed me by,
Like wind in the trees
Blowing the leaves of love
As time goes by…
It’s already seven
It’s already seven

The night is too long
I measure what’s left
I measure by heartbeat
I measure by breath
I lay here alone
Dreaming of you
Time is all wrong
It’s a trick of the mind
Trust in a heart
That knows nothing of time
But tomorrow I’ll wake up
And I’ll look at my watch
