"Benefit Concert Set for Angora Fire Victims"

Jul. 18--A benefit concert for victims of the Angora fire near South Lake Tahoe will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Cozmic Cafe, 594 Main St. in Placerville.
The suggested donation is $10, and all proceeds will go to the Angora Fire Fund, a component of the South Lake Tahoe Fund, according to a news release from Sherry Cushman of the Cozmic Cafe.
The concert will feature three bands with El Dorado County roots: Ten Cent Lure and Grand 58, both from South Lake Tahoe, and Jackson Road, with members from Placerville and Sacramento.

Jason Sherman of Ten Cent Lure said that although none of the South Lake Tahoe band members lost homes in the fire, all had friends who lost everything.
Nate Weldon, a former wildland firefighter with the American River Hotshots and a member of Jackson Road, said the band wanted to be involved because of his experience.
"I know how devastating the impact can be, having seen and fought all kinds of fires," he said in the news release. "It's very important for people to learn from tragic fires and be aware of how serious of a threat of wildfires can be."
