Feeling a bit camera shy

Jacob places supreme emphasis on the human voice, human expression and human instinct. He focuses his art on various themes of love and hate - the love of sexuality, the force of love and the hope of youth. Contrasted with this is the documentation of resistance - be it homophobia, religious constriction, ignorance, hatred or violence. His music embraces both the acoustic and the electronic in a way that does not serve as a shield or a stylistic lifeline, every single note found in Jacob's music serves a distinct purpose. Aesthetically influenced by Edith Piaf's devotion to romantic ideals and the idiosyncratic musical sensibilities of Kate Bush and Bjork, with a presence of lyrical power found in those like Leonard Cohen, and senses of sexual freedom seen in Prince and David Bowie, Jacob strives to re-contextualise the combination of art in words and music to his personal experience - to promote a life ideal - to be free, to hope, to expose, to protect, to love, to hate, to express, to cherish, to celebrate and to perceiver. It is as much an offering of hope to others as it is to himself.
