Bio

Gutman has been drumming for over 10 years. Influenced at a young age by his uncle, Jacob first aspired to be a drummer by age 6. By 5th grade Jacob was taking private lessons, learning his fundamentals in drumming. Jacob continued into Middle School and High School concert band and was apart of the multi-award winning drumline at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, CA. Because of these structured programs, Gutman not only has experience as a drumset player but also a percussionist. In High School Jacob formed his first band, titled Eyes Out. Forming a semi-solid local following in the alternative scene, Eyes Out played a total of 10 shows in the one year span of the band. After Eyes Out broke up, Jacob focused on improving his concert percussion skills, mastering his mallet instruments and auxiliary percussion. After High School, Gutman joined the San Diego based pop-rock band Fourth & Coast. Fourth & Coast has been on one North American tour over the span of two months as a backing band for solo-artist Hello Highway as support for pop-rock bands Action Item, Before You Exit, and Paradise Fears. Fourth & Coast's first tour ever was as direct support for Paradise Fears on their CD release tour titled Battle Scars Release Tour which took place on the East Coast (including one date in Canada) for a total of eight shows. Fourth & Coast has shared the stage with acts listed above as well as bands A Rocket To The Moon, This Century, Austin Gibbs, Rocket Summer, and more.

This touring experience has proven to be vital for Jacob's understanding of how parts of the music industry works. Because of this, as well as the drive to create different music, Jacob dropped out of Fourth & Coast to finish school at University of Colorado at Denver in the Music and Entertainment Industries Studies program. As well as attending school, Jacob is currently in the works of starting a new band called The Watson Process which could only be described as RnB mixed with Alternative Rock.
