Jacob Stiefel & the Truth

Southern music, country, rock & roll, blues, bluegrass, gospel, you name it. If it has entered into Jacob Stiefel's ears and mind at any point in his lifetime, it comes out through his hands and words. And his music shows every sign of that. "Raw," Stiefel says when asked to describe his music.

Jacob was born and raised in Fort Payne, Alabama, where his love affair with music began. The energy and shear passion that pours from Stiefel during a performance is evident to even the most non-musically oriented person. Growing up playing in a gospel band, Stiefel claims a number of different roots construct his Sequoia-sized musical identity. "I have my mom and dad to thank for that... and their record collection of course..."

Born and raised in Alabama, less than an hour from the Tennessee line, he picked up his mother’s old guitar before the age of ten and was singing long before that, for anyone who would listen. “I believe I was born the perfect mix, half Alabamian and half Texan,” says Stiefel, who is blatantly proud of his Southern roots.

Jacob continued his education after high school at the University of Alabama, where music became more than only a cherished hobby. It also became an occupation. "You mean, people will pay me to come play and sing for 'em? Oh yeah, I'm in," Stiefel says when remembering the early days of acoustic gigs at bars and frat parties before and after football games, usually with his cousin, best friend, and writing partner Chance Gray.

"I love playing music, and I love the fact that people enjoy listening and watching me do it..." And that they definitely do. Jacob and his band have developed a growing following in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, and the surrounding area. And he's looking forward to spreading that feeling to as many people as possible.
