Lyrics

This Perfect Moment

Written By: Jaco Purdie

When we feel pain
We have the cure
It is this moment
In this one moment
Of this I am sure
When we feel lonely
When we feel lost
It is this moment
Only one moment
We bear the Cross

There are no troubles
There are no faults
In this one moment
This Perfect Moment
When we are love
There is no sorrow
We fit like a glove
In this one moment
There is no tomorrow
Now when the shields fall
Now when our hearts shine
We hear the call
In this moment of time
Of our spirit divine
There are no troubles
There are no faults
In this one moment
This Perfect Moment
This Perfect Moment

Warlords (Leave Us Alone)

Written By: Jaco

Don't want to play war games no more
Don't want to cross the border or even the score
Pass the peace pipe give me some skin
Send our children home stop fighting to win

Warlords Leave Us Alone x2

Political science, a bitch’s brew
Techno weapons cook up a vicious stew
Genocide suicide – don’t murder your kin
Leave our children alone stop fighting to win

Warlords Leave Us Alone x2

Peace is a virtue, war is a sin
Swords into plowshares, to care is to win
The Cross or the Dove, the image is clear
Our Passion is love, no need to fear

Warlords Leave Us Alone x2

Don’t want to trade blood for oil
No more body parts on foreign soil
Time for the war for empire to end
Time for hate to stop - time for hearts to mend

Warlords Leave Us Alone x4

Two wolves struggle for hate or for peace
One lives in fear – one wants it to cease
“Which wolf will win, grandfather?” says me
“The wolf that wins is the one that you feed”

Warlords, Leave Us Alone x4

Emerson Thoreau & Muir

Written By: Jaco Purdie

Protectors of birds and bees
Believers in fish and trees
Living nature’s perfect
Playing with god’s favorite toys
Emerson Thoreau and Muir
Sequoia, fir, and tanglewood
Fundamental, misunderstood
Perfect harmony in all things
A universe in a butterfly’s wings

Do it yourself philosophers
They built their own creed
Spirit world of land and ocean
Growing from one seed
Forest in long curing bands
Splayed for all like angel’s hands
Rivers end in waterfalls
Infinite rainbows in it all
Emerson Thoreau and Muir

Emerson Thoreau and Muir
They wrote of a middle land
A place between god and man
A microcosm of the whole
A playground for the soul

Do it yourself philosophers
They built their own creed
Spirit world of land and ocean
Growing from one seed

Emerson Thoreau and Muir

Maya Angelou

Written By: Jaco Purdie

Met her in Union Station one day
Felt her before she crossed the way
Buying a trinket for his little girl
Who would have thought in all the world

Maya Angelou standing there
With God in her eyes and gray in her hair
Maya Angelou standing there
With God in her eyes and gray in her hair

“I read your poems to my children at night”
He said to her in the fading light
“You are a guiding light to us all”
As she held his hand in that hallowed hall

She gave him the name of a book he should read
He told her he would and she planted the seed
“You too will write your story some day”
As she smiled at him and walked away

Maya Angelou standing there
With God in her eyes and gray in her hair
Maya Angelou standing there
With God in her eyes and gray in her hair

He’ll see her always standing there
With God in her eyes and gray in her hair
Maya Angelou standing there
With God in her eyes and gray in her hair

Rest

Written By: Jackson Purdie & Jaco Purdie

Are you very weary?
Rest a little bit.
In some quiet corner
fold your hands and sit.
Do not let the trials that have
grieved you all the day,
haunt this quiet corner,
drive them all away!
Drive them all away.

Let your heart grow empty
of every thought unkind.
That peace may hover round you,
and joy may fill your mind.
Count up all your blessings
I’m sure they are not few.
Let the dear lord daily bless you
And give his love to you,
Give his love to you.

Soon you’ll feel so rested,
glad you stopped a bit.
In this quiet corner
to fold your hands and sit.
To fold your hands and sit.

I Cried the Day Ray Died

Written By: Jaco Purdie

I never met the man
But I loved him like a dad
I listened to all his songs
He was the father I never had

Living in Harlem or
Old London Town
Heard him on the radio
Listened to the songs go down

I CRIED THE DAY RAY DIED
His vision was clear and clean
He saw the essence of you and me
Don’t matter that he couldn’t see

We were a generation lost
And found in his CDs
Listened to all the words
We bought the old LPs

Singing Georgia … Georgia
I Can’t Stop Loving You
Hit the Road Jack don’t you ever look back on
Lonesome Avenue

I CRIED THE DAY RAY DIED
Every boy and girl
Every white and every black
Everybody in the world

Like a rumpled angel singin’
Blues and rock and roll
His jazz the purest kind
Country with rhythm and soul

Deep in this heart of mine
Ray lives on
Even though his body is gone
He’s alive in every song

I CRIED THE DAY RAY DIED
His vision was clear and clean
He saw the essence of you and me
Don’t matter that he couldn’t see
He lives on in you and me
He lives on in you and me

Little Green Trailer

Written By: Jaco Purdie

Little Green Trailer
Down a Country Road
Turn down the driveway
take off a load
Turn down the driveway
take off a load

Sleep in the trailer on Saturday night
hold your honey tight gonna be alright
Cook up some burgers on the old cook stove
pull on the bottle laugh off the cold

Get up in the morning and stretch your legs
cook up some coffee fry up some eggs
Walk by the river with the cedar and pine
go back to the trailer break out the wine

Little Green Trailer
Down a Country Road
Turn down the driveway
take off a load
Turn down the driveway
take off a load

Walk to the outhouse sit yourself down
with that Monkey Ward catalog forget about town
Swim in the water play in the sand
hear the waves laughin’ work on your tan

Climb on the mountains take in the breeze
nap in the forest sleep with the trees
Crank up the Smoker don’t go too fast
stop in the middle catch us some bass
stop in the middle catch us some bass

Little Green Trailer
Down a Country Road
Turn down the driveway
take off a load
Turn down the driveway
Take off a load
