"Regional bands clash in Sherman Theater competition for cash"

“One band that stood out but fell short of the top three was up and coming band The Poor Kids, featuring locally well-known vocalist Jacquelynn Pilcher, who has been featured in the Pocono Record, Nemo Magazine and is a crowd favorite at Sarah Street Grille. After finding much success after the release of her first music video "Fun," she easily sold more than her 40 tickets quota was required to perform. "Even though I didn't place among the winners I will take with me the experience of performing at the historical Sherman Theater," said Pilcher. "I thoroughly enjoyed competing against such talented musicians. It's all about a great opportunity to get to know other musicians and possibly work with them in the future. ” - Pocono Record

"Producer Nestor Bastidas goes on record with Bushkill music studio"

Pilcher, a tenacious 21-year-old, has been busy making her lifelong dream come true of being a professional singer/songwriter and self-taught musician.

She was discovered by Bastidas back in January and almost immediately was offered a contract that she signed with Ness B. Music Group. When it comes to her music, it's really hard to pin it into a specific category or genre.

"She is the next big 'it' girl," Bastidas said. She has star power but also the charm and appeal of the "girl next door."

Pilcher was originally born and raised in Hattiesburg, Miss., but was forced to evacuate after Hurricane Katrina hit.

Now living in the area for more than three years, Pilcher is happy to represent the Poconos.

Her first and new single "Fun" has been released for this month and she is shooting a video for it as well. Pilcher and her band will be back in a New York City studio within the next week recording her second single "When We Were Young."

Pilcher is becoming popular on YouTube, Facebook and MySpace, and is building a growing fan base. Her main outlook on her career is to just have fun with it and not let it go to her head.

"The most important thing to me about my music is just like the song says, to just have fun with it. I want my music to be that song playing in the background at important times in someone's lives like their first kiss, wedding or a summer they'll never forget.

"Music is amazing how it can bring you back to let you relive an experience and feel emotions in the lyrics," said Pilcher. - Pocono Record

Bio

At 24 years young, Jacquelynn has found her passions in life. She is a full time mom and part time musician. She currently performs throughout Jackson and Hattiesburg, Mississippi with Clay Keith. Together they form the sultry duo Tightrope Escapade. However, she enjoys playing behind a big guitar and singing from her heart all by herself. Her originals are mostly from life experiences, even if they are not her own. She yearns to spread love through music one song at a time from town to town. She has performed throughout New York, Pennsylvania and now her home state. "All I need is a guitar, a little love and my beautiful family," she says. "That's my kind of happy. Everything else I feel, even the bad, I'll put in a song."
