Bio

Jac's Attic combines influences like the Beatles, Nirvana, Billy Joel, Pixies, The Fratellis, James Taylor, Queen, REM, The Shins, The Everly Brothers, The Clash, David Bowie, The Doors, The White Stripes, Sublime, Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, Joni Mitchell, and more. “It’s folk meets rock-and-roll with an indie feel,” said Kevin Neely (vocals, lead guitar). Neely comes from a nomadic existence in search of a new sound and a new life on the East Coast. His Seattle sound consists of passionate rock vocals and perfectly-fitting guitar solos. You get the best of both worlds when combined with Jac’s East-coast experience. Jac, aka Jaclyn Mestel (vocals, rhythm guitar), came up with the name easily. “It’s where we play,” said Mestel. "My attic is the perfect rehearsal space, thank the landlord!" Her thoughtful lyrics, with complex, yet catchy melodies, and intricate rhythm makes for some good tunes. The rhythm also gets much of its complexity from Alex Toorish. He has brought some killer beats and recording skills to the table. Alex is a native Bostonian (well Brookline, but close enough) who has come a long way since his bad-boy days at military boarding school. But instead of beating up his peers, he now focuses on pulverizing drum heads. Right now, Jac's Attic's sound lacks a bassist, but the search for members is on. Listen for the band as they come out of the attic and wander into the Boston music scene this year.
