Bio

Lady of the vocals and the keys Juliet started writing music at the tender age of 12. Back then she was more of an aspiring guitarist, but later fell head-over-heels for the soft sounds of the piano. After school Juliet had the privilege of gapping it around Europe where she got lost in a labyrinth of concerts and the festivals, only to return to Cape Town and cement her love for music by song-writing and eventually joining forces with Carl to form the beginnings of jacSharp.

Carl's love for music was born out of years of listening to his fathers music, which include the likes of Pink Floyd, the Police, Hendrix and Petty to name but a few. He kicked off as a sax player but later on moved to all things guitar and easily shift from straight rock to his love of funk, reggae and experimental sounds. After meeting Juliet they knew they had the right combination to create the foundation for what was later to be cemented by Ben and Emelio.

The rhythm stick, Ben Peters started out training as a therapeutic Aroma Therapist but his hands were itching to be banging out the beats that cause heart palpitations. Through studying drumming at the school he was trained in the theory of rhythm and this, together with a keen sense of production, added a vital element to the team. With strong roots in trip-hop and electro music he adds an infectious groove to the mix resulting in an undeniable character to the songs. Ben is dangerous (behind a drum kit).

The trio were on the lookout for the new addition and it wasn't long before they found one who was to become an integral element in the formation of a tighter, groove driven sound. Emelio Gassibe, definitely the most experienced in the group, his professionalism, knowledge of music and performance, and incredible skills on the bass guitar, added the final component to build the solid machine that is now jaSharp.

With an EP completed, and a charismatic full album in its final stages of completion, the electric sound that is jacSharp is ready to explode onto the international market, and with a European Summer tour in the pipeline the exitement has already begun. In South Africa their brand has been established with hundreds of gigs behind them including prestigious festivals such as Rocking the Daisies and Splashy Fen, a music video on DSTV's MK channel, and extensive national radio airtime on Radio 2000 as well as climbing the charts on campus radio stations. They've also won the internation HP launch your band competition and got the change to tour Berlin and france earlier this year.
