Bio

Born and raised in Los Angeles California, James “Jae Barz” Barber found a way to express his pain through his voice, growing up in church showed him that music was a very positive thing as him himself was a choir member, but family issues turned him another route life wise but not spiritually. Being placed in the system led him to rap while combining his R&B history with his painful life, yet true lyrics to create a make him a double threat. In his hometown of the greater Los Angeles area, as a kid James "Jae Barz" Barber experinced hard times which turned into a life of crime, being that his parents suffered from a deep drug addiction, even in his younger years before highschool he was in with the bad crowd although never being placed in jail. He was just a kid at the time, but the images that he has seen have played a big role on his outlook on life and how he would change it. Music found him by the time he was in middle school. He started freestyling at lunch in the middle of the yard and began to notice the feeling he would get from the crowd and also himself. He started writing songs with the help of talented young lady by tha name of Lady G. She pushed him to really show the world that he just wasn’t every kid that wanted to rap, that he had a message for the world. In early 2004 he joined what would become a powerhouse team by joining up with mentors Tha’ Ril, Malachi, Joey Page, and now known as Don Mel-O all known as The Hostiles. There were already places and positons set up and he had to prove his talent and loyalty to this super group of talented brothers. After long studio seesions, overnight weekends couped in a studio wit a couch and a love seat for all four members to share. He has turned into what is now Jae Barz and plans to bring the WESTCOAST back to the forfront backed by what he likes to call his " Dr. Dre " Tha’ Ril and his powerful sound that he calls the New Hip Hop. It’s been a long time coming for this young artist out of South Central L.A., and he doesn’t plan on stoping anytime soon. Now sharing his music among some of the top upcoming artist such as Lady G and Brittney Mac, he will create a powerful shift in music as well as the westcoast. Showcasing his broad range of talents like singing, writing, rapping, and now engineering, he plans to take his skill and excell to heights unseen from a westcoast artist since NWA!
