Bio

It all began with breakdancing, beatboxing, rapping, DJing, producing, etc in Hampton, VA (where i grew up) in the early '80s when hiphop was first emerging. In '86, i somehow transformed into an obsessed skateboarder/punkrocker complete with a mohawk and combat boots. Being into punkrock (Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Minor Threat, etc), i assembled and fronted my first band while teaching myself to play guitar and drums. As time progressed, my musical tastes broadened with subsequent bands sounding more like a blend of the 80s/early 90s-era releases of the Smashing Pumpkins, REM, Dinosaur Jr, The Cure, Jane's Addiction, Metallica, The Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, etc.

While in college in Richmond, VA, i formed a 3-piece band called FULFLEJ (i played guitar and sang) which, in '95, was seen performing in a bar by D'arcy of the Smashing Pumpkins. We got up the nerve to talk to her, she said she was impressed by us, and we provided her our demo. A few months later, we get an invitation from her and James Iha (also of the Pumpkins) to be on their newly formed label Scratchie Records. Recording extensively in Chicago and NYC, we completed 3 releases with the 2nd, 'Wack-Ass Tuba Riff,' being the most significant with major label distribution. This recording included performances by D'arcy and James, and included our single 'Work In This Universe' whose video was played on MTV and whose clips were included on MTV programs such as THE REAL WORLD and MAKING THE VIDEO: MARIAH CAREY. It also received nation-wide radio play along with other tracks from that CD. FULFLEJ performed throughout the US including opening once for JIMMY EAT WORLD, twice for the SMASHING PUMPKINS, and a 5-month tour with BETTER THAN EZRA. We played at several festivals including SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST in Austin and CMJ in NYC.

In '97, FULFLEJ was commissioned to write and record the theme song for the 2nd POWER RANGERS motion picture. This song, 'Shift Into Turbo,' was included in the movie in its entirety as well as on the soundtrack CD. A mini-video, which was comprised of footage of us performing the song interspersed with footage from the film, served as the television preview. While completing our 3rd album, 'Too Keep A Long Story Long...,' Scratchie Records and our distributor Mercury Records got into serious contractual disagreements which caused a seemingly endless delay of its release. Eventually, i threw in the towel and relocated to San Diego.

While performing with FULFLEJ, still listening to hiphop as well as other electronic genres (especially jungle/drum-n-bass), i obtained the necessary DJing and production equipment to begin producing and performing various styles of vocal and instrumental dance music - i have been doing this ever since. Some of this music has also been released on various record labels. Now very proficient at computer music production, and opting not to immediately get involved with another rock group, computer-centered music, often in combination with live instrumentation and vocals, has been my most recent focus. I am currently the center of such a project (a few others are involved) which is in its final stages of completion. Preliminary mixes of several tracks from this latest project are available from my Sonicbids EPK.

Thank you for your time.
