Bio

Monya' Jagwe (pronounced Mon-YAY Jag-WAY) better known as Jag Monya' (born September 3, 1989) is a East African/American musician who is from a Royal Kingdom which lies in the sweet horizons of West Uganda, though she has spent time growing up in Texas (United States) but she will never forget the place she calls home. With a supportive mixed culture and unique angelic vocals, this artist is likely to target greatness. At the tender age of 4 years old her parents discovered her true passion for music, saying she would walk around the house in her mothers shoes and hair brush putting on a show for everyone regardless if they were watching or not. Later, Jag was enrolled in performing arts during school in the U.S and continued to fall more in love with music every step of the way. By the age of 13, Jag recorded her first song "Are You Gonna Wait 4 Me" which she began to perform at school talent shows and auditions where ever she had the chance. She continued on and music became a way of life for her. By this time, Jag also began writing lyrics and knew exactly what she wanted to pursue in life on top of being most inspired by listening to artist such as Miriam Makeba, Whitney Houston, Sade & Micheal Jackson.

In 2011, Jag toured through out East Africa starting in Kenya, Tanzania and back home in Uganda where she then performed for the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at The State House for a contribution to her Kingdom and village. With welcoming arms Uganda has yet to let her down. As of December 1, 2011 at CAYENNE Jag announced she was signed to "Africa On Stage" and performed at the launch for the new founded record label owned by CEO Simona Schiava. Today you can find this young artist traveling around the world and sharing her music. "Ultimately, I am an international artist and I owe my music to the world", Jag said in an recent T.V interview in Uganda. We believe that the Rising Star will not fail us and she will make her mark in the international music industry.
