Bio

For his debut album release, artist Jago Thorne presents Fire in the Wake, a densely packed collection of lyrical unveiling and musical moxie. Chiseled from bedrock autobiography, the album balances the familiar territory of the singer-songwriter with a surprising collision of pan-genre compositions and stark narratives.

Fire in the Wake, is a percussive, electro-acoustic Alt-Rock album, led by Jago's distinctive vocals and backed by bassist Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan), drummer Shawn Pelton (Regina Spektor, Citizen Cope, Johnny Cash), Stan Harrison on horns, (David Bowie, Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen), and pedal steel player Cartwright Thompson; a crew capable of pop-precision and surprise left-turns that keep ears close to the music.

Jago's arrangements combine ambient electric guitars, live string performances, bit-crushed synths, folk-inspired acoustic guitars, and a driving rhythm section that reveal a baroque-rock impulse bedded in Americana. With a vocal sound that ranges from angsty folk balladeer to pop-tinged rocker, Jago's songwriting is rooted in poetic lyricism. As storyteller, Jago weaves apocalyptic narratives (Sunburn, As I Walk), and renders testimony from the underdog-visionary (Bloom, Wrench, Butcher).

Penned while working a centuries old farm in New England, his songs prove visceral and earnest to his experience. Produced and recorded in the natural acoustics of his vaulted barn as well as studios in New York, Boston, and rural New England, Jago Thorne's music takes listeners for a ride. At times haunting, seductive, or all out rocking, Fire in the Wake reveals the artist in raw creative form.
