"Jahiant hits out on criminals"

Canada-based artiste Jahiant plays on the conscience of criminals with his latest single Don’t Shoot The Youths

Produced by JahCutta out of Toronto, the Rastafarian singjay said the song also warns against negativity.

“It is really a message to all of us not to fall for the negativity that the system sometimes throws at us. We don’t want the youths to be misled anymore,” he said.

Don’t Shoot The Youths was in part inspired by a movement in the United States sparked by anger over the killing of African-American youth.

“Black lives do matter and we need to understand that. The system continues to shoot down the youth in several ways, including financial slavery, violence, oppression, false imprisonment, and racial hatred. We have to take a stand against all of this,” said Jahiant.

As 2016 winds down, Jamaica continues on a bloody path with at least two killings per day in urban and rural areas.

Jahiant, whose real name is Markland Campbell, grew up in Portmore, St Catherine. He made his first appearance on stage at age 13 on a talent show in Gregory Park.

He migrated to Canada shortly after and embarked on a music career. In 2012 Jahiant released his debut album,

Life Is The Limit, produced by Jah Bless Independent Records.

"Jahiant releases video for 'Shoot The Youth'"

Recording artiste Jahiant has completed the video for his song 'Shoot The Youth', which is a part of the Jahiant production.

The video was shot by Jah Cutta in Ottawa, Canada, and directed by Anne Saleh and James Harkness.

Jahiant, whose real name is Mark Campbell, is based in Canada, but grew up in Christian Pen, a community located in the Gregory Park division of Portmore, St Catherine.

The Rastafarian artiste hit out against the 'Babylon system' and shared that the youth must embrace peace, unity and righteousness.

He further stated that the song is to bring awareness to the youth and to mothers and fathers who are under siege from the 'Babylon system' for many years.

He said it is time they wake up and fight the system that is killing the youth, and not only in Jamaica.
"The song is targeting injustice all over the world, to bring awareness to the people that they should wake up and put a stop to all these injustices," he said. - Anthony Minnot
