Jailyna

Born in Geneva from a Spanish father and a French mother, Jaïlyna, a beautiful young girl full of energy, spends most of her childhood listening to soul artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Prince.

In her early twenties, she takes music and vocal technique classes before hitting the road for a few years in the United States. During this time, she attends and participates in various jams and concerts that confirm her attraction for the nu-soul movement. Like many other songwriters and singers who inspired her along the way, Jaïlyna very soon develops and establishes her own style.

Performing on stage will initially intimidate her, but she will learn to overcome this feeling by using a subtle sense of humor, sharing life stories with her public and having fun on stage.

In May 2010, Jaïlyna starts a collaboration with Larry Gold, the legendary Sound of Philadelphia, who helps her to produce her first album with the support of Yes I Am Records. The recording takes place in the famous « Studio » of Philadelphia, where some of her idols (Erykah Badu, The Roots), recorded many of their own albums. Supervised by Larry and accompanied by Jill Scott's musicians, the precious sound of "Philly" is captured.

Matt Knobel, chief engineer of Lenny Kravitz and studio director of « Setai Recording Studio » in Miami Beach, is under the charm of Jaïlyna's sound. They will work together for several weeks towards mixing and perfecting the tracks.

As a result, « Roughs » is released in June 2011. Introspective and experimental, this debut album is full of vibrations and authenticity.
