Biography

Singer-Songwriter Jaime Saso has garnered a fast-growing international following with his unique blend of World-infused Americana. His devilishly sticky melodies, infective rhythms, and skilled guitar playing glow with the influence of such poet-rockers as Ryan Adams and Jimi Hendrix, yet belie a pool of lyrical insights and wisdom accumulated while traveling the world (and, as he would say, also staying still) with eyes wide open. You know the world-weary backpacker-type, wandering with a guitar in hand and harmonica in mouth... well, that's Saso, if that picking-cliché happened to be classically trained with tours of duty in a metal band, jazz combo, funk group, and Beatles-cover band.

After several years performing in India, Nepal, China, Thailand and California, Saso has repatriated to Dallas: crafting his debut record, collaborating with, among others, acclaimed producer Salim Nourallah (Old 97’s, Rhett Miller), and performing regularly at venues around the City. You can also look for him on a regional tour in early 2011 that is sure to convert new devotees along the way.

Lyrics

Summit of the Heart

Written By: Jaime Saso

Trevor, whatever happened to you?
Did you find peace in the Millet field?
Or where you too tired from staying up all night
Singing along to Resam Phi Ri Ri
Before the mountains teeth
Stole a piece of Hello Sweet
From a summit of the heart
You slipped away
Before you got to carve
Your new path

Now my beard has grown as long as the one
Your smile shined through in the last photo of you
I pray that my time here isn't trimmed too short
Still got the world to see with two eyes brand new
I'm leaving this valley
By the river to swim upstream
To a summit of the heart
Where I'll stay
And try not to fall off
This mountain top
A summit of the heart
Where you slipped away
Before you got to carve
Your new path

Trevor, whatever happened to you?
Were you free
Before you disappeared?

Drying Off in the Desert

Written By: Jaime Saso

The sun turtle crawls like Moomal to Mahindra
and I'm sitting tall, riding slow, a Maharaja
just watching the birds from above my fortress walls

I'm drying off in the desert
after racing the rain
what lies up in the mountains
well it don't matter today
cause I've escaped from the ocean
that tried to pull me away
with the promise of love, girl
while I was surfing her wave
fearlessly
into sea

Went hiking around my mind's camel neck valley
with five juggling eyes, I was driving myself crazy
like back in the days when I used to roll up my jeans

I'm drying off in the desert...

Wouldn't you like to hide with me
in my Phantom Rolls-Royce limousine
and drive all night to the promised land
that Moses never got to see

A leaf twirling down, a footprint in a sand dune
will rise with the wind, and steam up in a King's room
I'll stick with the light, even under a full tar moon.

I'm drying off in the desert...

Wouldn't you like to ride with me
in my Phantom Rolls-Royce limousine
wouldn't you like to ride with me
and drive all night to the promised land with me?
