"Summer Daze Song Review"

Summer Daze is like the metaphorical song version of a treasure chest. Stick your hand in and you don’t know quite what you’ll pull out. Producer Jaiprime (Jaimie Stewart) claims that the oddly tweaked notes are so because he recorded his EP in an igloo. True or not, his sound does have an undeniable resonating, esoteric value to it. The slinky electronic ambience is splintered with subtle bass that softly drips with a promising optimism. As you audibly sift through Jaiprime’s collage of sounds you’re enveloped by a sense of gorgeous ambiguity and pivotal innovativeness, both perfectly display the layers of skill and depth of passion of its production.

Jaiprime is Jaimie Stewart, a young producer from Canada, whose focus is on producing euphoric electronica and short films. His debut EP Colours is available for free download here. - The Repeat Button

"Colours Album Review"

Canadian producer Jaimie Stewart is offering his latest EP Colours for free via his Soundcloud - it's not worthless though. He creates a beautiful piano-driven blend that sort of sounds like a love child of Bon Iver. Attached is the title track Colours, go snag that EP. - Poule D'or

"Colours Album Review"

We get sent a lot of music here at The Walk to Work, and even though we listen to it all, it's impossible for us to feature everything we get, but occasionally something lands that completely fry’s our brains with how good it is. Monday morning i opened my inbox to find an e-mail from JaiPrime a canadian artist promoting his new EP Colours.

So I opened it, went to his soundcloud and clicked play, and never moved until the track finished, at which point I clicked download and the play button again. The track was Jaiprime - Colours

It's actually a great little EP, quite diverse in feel, very EDM in places sometimes reminding me of Kaskade (in a good way), but also very indie in it's feel and values. All the tracks are interesting, Summer Daze is probably my second favourite track on there, but the vocals tracks whilst a little bit cheesy are also very good. The instrumental stuff it seems is really where his heart is and and while quite challenging in places it's held together really well with some fantastic production and ideas that showcase his musical ability really well.

As you’ll know if there are two things i love in my music it's melody and melancholy, and Colours has both in spade. From the Bruce Hornsby style opening piano to the lovely fm chimes and then around the 3 minutes mark the drums hit, and I lose it every single time.

In some ways it feels very 80's filmesque in ways, not in a Drive soundtrack way but it certainly reminds me of the music from films i grew up watching.

Anyway, enough of my wittering, if you follow the link to Jaiprimes soundcloud you can grab the EP for free. Phenomenal stuff.

Bio

Jaimie Stewart has always had a passion to create music, film and combining the two together. How they make you feel is very much his main focus. He started producing and creating electronic music in early 2011. Composing the music electronically seemed to hit home in a different way and brought the creative freedom he had been looking for. In the summer of 2011 Jaimie started off his new musical journey by winning the National Roland Synthesizer Contest with his first original composition "Bring Sunlight."

Since then he has released his debut album fittingly entitled "Passion Is Freedom". Shortly after that he released an EP with the name "Colours" which explores a diversity of styles and emotions. Jaimie was given the chance to help create the music score for the feature film, "Three Colours and a Canvas", shot in his hometown of Calgary. Following the experience of scoring and editing audio for a feature film, he dove into creating orchestral pieces to explore an entirely different soundscape. In May of 2014 he will be playing live for Canadian Music Festival based in Toronto and will be announcing new live events as well as a brand new album soon. As he works on his lasted projects, Jaimie continues to stay open and excited for any new endeavours.
