Bio

Jake has always, from birth, been able to make music with things that should not make music, and music with things that do! He was always interested in music. He taught himself to play the guitar before he was 11, and formed his first band,
Half Life, while a junior in Perkins Tryon High School. Soon after graduating, Jake was instrumental in forming remede, and together with Rion, Vernon, Kevin, Alan, Shawn, Zane, and Kenn, they played from Ponca City to Dallas and lots of
points in between 5 nights a week.
But time changes things. The band disbanded. Jake decided to go back to his roots. He is now writing new lyrics and music, and is now playing acoustic gigs.
His first love is now and always has been his music. He truly is a man with a mission. His lyrics are very heartfelt and sincere and expresses the feelings of a young man coming to terms with life.
Jake's influences are many in number and in style as well. There are so many over the years that he is sure he has left out someone! But here goes:

In songwriting, his influences are Jerry Cantrell, Jim Morrison, James Taylor, Jeff Buckley, Neil Young, Pete Yorn, Matt Powell are among those at the top.

His music style influences are David Gilmore of Pink Floyd, Robbie Krieger of The Doors, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Zakk Wylde, Alice in Chains, Matt Powell are ones who climb to the top of his list.

His personal influences today are Jerry Payne, Steve Rice, Tony Payne, Tim Grauberger (as a matter of fact, all the No Justice guys, including Randy the Roady), Rion Wahpakeeche, Chad Dorman, T. Shawn Howard, Ragan Parkerson, Kevin Miller, Brooke Brunken, Amy Brinker, REX, and all the P-Town gang, and of course my family, and Mom and Dad! And all the rest of the great Stillwater musicians who call "the Strip" home.

Jake has been nominated for Oklahoma Best New Male Artist at Red Dirt Music Awards, Tulsa, 2003.

Winner of Oklahoma Rock Best Singer/Songwriter for 2003.

Winner of 2004 Payne County Line Oklahoma Best Singer/Songwriter Of The Year.
