"Teen Boppers in the News"

The music of a teenager from The Woodlands is earning him notice as well as play for pay. Jake Muck, winner of a recent online Kidz Bop contest, recently performed first professional gig in River Oaks. … said boast an eclectic sound which could be characterized as pop rock and alternative rock. … The website is produced by young people for young people. She said Nick and Jake were asked by Kidz Bop to create two videos a month, a move she hopes will help promote their work. Kidz Bop has about 50,000 registered users. According to a Kidz Bop press release, Nick and Jake co-wrote and recorded the theme song for their new series called "What Up." The first episode done by the duo was released Dec. 4 and the second episode came out Dec. 17. Jake said the first duet became the number one uploader. Susan Muck said the winning video was featured in a Kidz Bop 12 commercial and "it kind of got them hooked." "The second one just went up (recently), they are having fun," she said. "They are having a positive response and they have been having a great time doing it." The two entertainers also just finished shooting a new family film, 'The Kings of Appletown," in New Braunfels, with roles as football players. In addition, they take vocal lessons from Tom McKinney Vocal Studios and recently performed in the Tom McKinney Holiday Showcase at Dosey Doe. "When people come tell me we did a good job, that makes me feel good," Jake said. "I like to perform and make smiles on peoples faces." ….Still, Jake said he and Nick are having fun and getting to try different things. "The experience has been great," he said. "I get to meet a lot of cool people." … Jake's advice for up and coming teens is to be persistent. The Apprentice Conservatory Training at Theatre Under The Stars announces the all teen cast of “13,” a new musical comedy about coming of age, teen traumas and high school survival. This presentation by The Academy at Theatre Under The Stars’ Humphreys School of Musical Theatre hits the Zilkha Hall stage at the Hobby Center for Performing Arts downtown Sept. 10-12. The story follows Evan Goldman, who’s living the dream – he’s popular, has the ‘perfect’ family and lives in the greatest city in the world – New York. That is until his parents get divorced and he’s forc ed to move to a small town in Indiana. Uprooted from his old life, he has to make new friends and somehow navigate the social minefield of high school to become part of the ‘in-crowd’. With wit and searing honesty, “13” is a hilarious, high-energy musical for all ages. Familiar players Several of the players are from Examiner Newspaper neighborhoods. Chris Canal, will play Brett. Canal, a senior at Houston's HSPVA, is currently a member of the Cabaret cast and has been seen at TUTS in several productions. Lucy will be played by Betty Marie Muessig, a HSPVA sophomore. She is currently a member of the Cabaret cast and also has been in several TUTS productions, among others. The role of Kendra will be played by Stephanie Styles, a senior at Episcopal High School most recently seen in “Pippin.” Styles has toured with national productions. Canal, Muessig and Roberts are all students at The Academy at HSMT. USER-GENERATED VIDEOS DROVE KIDS TO VOTE FOR THEIR FAVORITES; KIDZ BOP WORLD TOUR LAUNCHES THIS MONTH

(New York, NY) - The online votes have been tallied and four talented kids have been chosen as Grand Prize winners in the "Be a Kidz Bop Star" National Talent Search. The four winners are: Desiree Jimenez (age 11) from Virginia Beach, VA, Jacob Muck (age 13) from Splendora, TX, Jesse O'Brien (age 12) from Schwenksville, PA and Dalton Watts (age 13) from Theodore, AL. Each will get a co-starring role in an official KIDZ BOP music video and an all-inclusive family vacation at Beaches Resort and Spa in Turks and Caicos (air travel courtesy of Orbitz), where the video will be shot in November.

The "Be a Kidz Bop Star" National Talent Search, which generated over 1100 contest entries submitted by kids from around the country, announced 15 semi-finalists on September 17th. Their videos were posted on KIDZBOP.com where kids voted for their favorites. The contest quadrupled traffic on KIDZ BOP's family-friendly website (www.kidzbop.com), generating over 8 million streams of videos on the site since its relaunch in July.

Vice President, Marketing for Kidz Bop LLC Sandi Hemmerlein commented, "When running a contest that seeks user-generated content - particularly kid-generated content - you never know what you are going to get. We were pleasantly surprised at not only the quantity of entries we received, but also the quality. Kids put a lot of effort into entering this talent search and the level of talent was particularly impressive."

A phenomenon among kids 4-11 and a favorite among parents, KIDZ BOP is crossing over from CDs (10 million sold) to the concert stage with KIDZ BOP WORLD TOUR, which launches at the end of October. The tour, featuring six kids, two young adults and a rock band, will run through May '08. With the most talented kids, a live rock band, lights, dancing and more, it's the ultimate kid-friendly music event and the only rock concert where kids are the stars.

Bio

JAKE MUCK - a teenage singer/songwriter/actor. Performing since an early age, Jake has appeared in numerous festivals, films, commercials, music videos, theatre performances, and as a hip hop dancer for Planet Funk. He recently appeared in a national commercial for Hasbro, a documentary called "The Messenger", and his debut album is being released in 2009. He was also just cast in the musical 13 at Theatre Under the Stars, Hobby Center, showing this fall. He can provide a 15 to 30 minute show of upbeat high energy songs combined with a hip hop flavor.
