Day gigs: carpenter, floor layer, acoustical engineer and lab technician

When the members of Jakeway first came together just over a year ago, their mission was simple. "We just wanted to make good rock 'n' roll music people can dance to," said Joshua Smith, a 2001 Wadsworth High School graduate. "And I think people see us as just having fun onstage and that's infectious. It's good rock 'n' roll dancing, people moving to the groove but not any grinding. There's so much music out today that's just sad or depressing or very tongue-in-cheek. That's not what we're about. Rock 'n' roll is supposed to make you move." The quartet has been on the move of late, releasing its debut EP, "The Eliza Lee EP," which includes fan favorite "Lipstick and Limousines." A full-length is in the works with the Akron resident saying the band is taking its Rolling Stones and Faces influence into more of a Southern rock vibe. Jakeway returns to the Rubber City for a 9:30 p.m. show tonight at the Lime Spider, 203 S. Main Street. Also on the bill are Whatever You Want and the Zou. Tickets are $5 ($10 under 21).
