A Star is born…...

Jakia Crishaun Hines, born on July 20, 1986, hails from West Palm Beach, Florida. As a seventh grader, Jakia joined the marching band at Roosevelt Middle School, playing both the flute and piccolo. It was also during this time that Jakia teamed up with a younger cousin, Sir Jarvis Arnette, to form the group Xclusive. Xclusive gained recognition performing at venues all over South Florida’s tri-county area (Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach), including the well-known SunFest, an annual festival graced with performances by some of the industry’s top musical celebrities.

Jakia’s commanding vocals soon garnered the attention of Darren Henson’s Pop Starz, a talented group of carefully chosen young dancers and singers who performed and competed around the world.

Upon graduation, Jakia was offered and accepted a scholarship to attend Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. She soon joined The Pride, Bethune Cookman University’s world famous Marching Wildcats, in the coveted position as a 14 Karat Gold Dancer. Jakia took over as co-captain of the dynamic 14 Karat Gold dancers during her junior year, becoming captain only a year later, a position she maintained for two years.

Now seeking her Masters in Entertainment Business at Full Sail University, Jakia is pursuing opportunities in the business as a singer and dancer. She continues to be influenced by some of today’s greatest performers such as, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, The late Michael Jackson and Rihanna. Her goal is to reach the masses, people in all spectrums, connecting herself to her audience with positive lyrics, creative dancing and heartening assurance. Jakia believes, "in order to spread love in your music, you must have true love to give away" - Jakia Hines
