Bio
Born and Raised in Berlin, Jakob Royal showed an early fascination with music. The first years of his life were spent with soul and reggae, and his earliest memories are of being lulled to sleep by the rich voices of musicians as diverse and talented as Bob Marley and Alicia Keys. Inspired, he took to drums, guitars, and later, piano, first emulating the musicians he loved, and later, writing his own music and lyrics.
At 16 Jakob began to post cover-songs recorded by himself on youtube. During this time he was also working intensively on a demo he would record in 2010. His shows in the Berlin Area began to attract more and more people, and he established himself as a local reggae musician during this period.
By June 2011, Jakob began to finish writing the songs for his debut album Jakob Royal, which he would record from August-September 2011 at Daily Hero Studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The album release date is February 17, 2011.
As a muse and entertainer, Jakob Royal is unique and uncategorizable, showcasing his many varied influences. At 18, his music carries an acoustic depth, the word-flow of hip-hop, the power of pop music, the soul of R&B, and his eternal love of Reggae.
He has found at his age what many much older and more seasoned musicians are still looking for: a distinctive identity. Whether in English, French, Italian, or German, he speaks directly to the listener with truth and authenticity. And wherever he speaks, he is sure to impress.
