Bio
Jalan Veasley was born in Dallas, Texas, but currently resides in Memphis, Tennessee. He has been professionally recording and releasing music since 2014, with no intent on stopping anytime soon. Some words to describe his style are "sophisticated, lyrical smooth, exotic, skillful, inspiring, rhythmic, vibrant". Other associated acts include Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Joey Bada$$, Rapsody, Chance The Rapper, and many others.
In a personal statement, Veasley described how his upbringing influenced his music:
"Being the son of a daycare provider and a firefighter isn't the most appealing family musical background. At times, it was rough financially (to this day my mother still makes a mean yearly income of $20,000). I can easily recall living in the Extended Stay Hotel, where me, my mother, and my grandmother lived for a few months because we couldn't afford to rent a house at the time. Nevertheless, music became our alleviator through the harsh times. My parents and grandparents exposed me at an early age to numerous forms of hip-hop, R&B, rap, disco, and many more."
His poetry background mixed with his natural charisma has made him a diverse and unique addition to the rap industry. His goals are to inspire both young and old with positive messages that improve oneself and the community alike, tell stories of triumphs and tragedy that resonate with an audience on a personal level, and entertain a variety of people across all races, genders, sexual orientations, etc.
