Bio

Born in Queens, NY. Raised between Dominican Republic, Miami and educated in The School of Hard Knocks, Jalen James Acosta is a father, record producer, a musician, an actor, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, a dreamer and as of late, a self proclaimed “music technologist”.

A man who’s found answers by making tracks, both physical footsteps and musical ones, he’s trekked down many roads, and picked up experience along the way. For several years, from 2003 through 2008, Acosta traveled across Europe with his band, a Dominican-inspired fusion of Bachata/rock/hip hop, Toke D Keda (aka Toque D Keda), gathering groupies at every bend. From clubs to stadiums across Asia, Europe, the Americas and even down under, people have enjoyed his microphone swagger. His first major music break came in 1999 when Jalen was invited to perform on stage with Enrique Iglesias. Remix features followed with Latin superstar Thalia, multi-platinum Mexican group Guardianes Del Amor and on legendary Celia Cruz’s remix of “Carnaval” for the dance clubs. In 2003, after falling off for a while and ending up back on the streets, he created Wize Foolz Music, inc, his own production company and by 2005 he had earned enough money to buy his equipment to being his long awaited dream of becoming a producer. In the field of acting, he’s performed in many plays including an Off-Broadway Production of Fame and got his break in 1999 in the BBC film “NAVY”. In 2001 Mr. Acosta hosted and performed at the world launch of Microsoft’s X-BOX and Windows XP receiving praise from all present including Mr. Bill Gates himself; Mr. Acosta has also appeared in 40+ international and nationwide commercials for the likes of Burger King, Skittles, Guess, Bud light and Coca-Cola, just to name a few and has been the voice behind the raps of major radio commercials for NISSAN, SPRINT and even at the ESPN’s 2002’s Volleyball World Championships in Argentina. In his big Hollywood debut, he appeared in 2006 in Dave Rodriguez’s film “Push”, playing across Chazz Palminteri, Chad Lindberg and Michael Rappaport. (PUSH is still playing on HBO, Cinemax, etc) Jalen signed on for 2 roles in 2009/10. Mr. Acosta also loaned his skills to a role on the third season of USA Network’s hottest show “burn notice”. Hollywood is at his door.

From 1998 to 2000 Mr. Acosta’s interest in technology grew as he worked as a tech support engineer and network developer for Compaq Computers. Most recently, Acosta is working on a project of virtual collaboration called myfirstsingle.com, where producers and musicians can meet on an online platform and participate in the new and ever-changing world of the 21st century’s music industry. Fate fused his talents for the birth of this massive endeavor. MyFirstSingle.com also fuses his passion for music with his interest in technology. At one time a nearly penniless bridge operator in Miami, Jalen says he now sees himself and the platform as the bridge for those less fortunate to cross into the music world’s virtual land of dreams. The motto he shares with others: “Believe ….in you.”
