Jamanta Crew

Jamanta Crew is a Brazilian house music collective headed by Prztz (Eduardo Marote, São Paulo), Rafael Droors (Brasilia) and DJ Rod (Rio de Janeiro). It also features the tracks of DJs/producers such as Gustavo Tatá, Gustavo MM and RM2. The year of 2004 was very good for the collective and the results have now started to come through. In November, Prztz dropped his first EP for Classic, "Everybody". The Jamanta Crew will release its first two EPs through the labels Greenhouse, Public Access and So Sound as of August 2005. Also, tracks by Droors were released in records from Public Access and Safe In Sound labels. Two laptops, two keyboards, some EFX pedals. The collective's best productions as well as bootlegs in that funky and freaky house style typical of the Jamantas. Mixing house with George Clinton, hip hop, Brazilian "chorinho" and absurd samples, the Jamanta Crew's live PA presents a fun and original set, uplifting but also able to go deep. This show has travelled to several Brazilian cities and, more recently, to the US at the Dynagroove party in LA and at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. The live PA featured in undergroundhouse.net was recorded live in Rio de Janeiro just before the Christmas of 2004. Prztz, aka Eduardo Marote, is a renowned producer from São Paulo, Brazil, who has worked with the likes of DJs Marky and Patife on "Só tinha que ser com voce", and has produced a number of South American pop number ones. Under his new guise, he likes to make his house very funky and is a bit of a music technology geek. His studio is called Cabeça de Estopa and is where he spends most of his worktime. Droors is a 22-year-old DJ and producer from Brasília who regularly plays at Brazil's best parties. He has developed his productions skills immensely after a one-year sound engineering course at London's SAE. Rod is from Rio and is 25 years old. He leads a parallel career in graphic design and in graffit where he belongs, respectively, to production company Motim and to the Fleshbeck Crew. He has played hip hop and house for a long time and has started producing in 2002. His first tracks will come out in the collective's EP for Greenhouse.
