"Spotlight On Rising Hip Hop Artist James Doe"

Welcome back to BuzzMusicLA James Doe! How has the journey been for you so far? What would you consider the toughest part to maneuvering around the music industry?
Thanks for having me. It’s been dope. Just been making moves and doing a few shows tryna get the brand out there so it’s been a great experience. The toughest part is knowing who’s legit and who isn’t. Everybody say they can help, and everybody got a price but most people just look out for them contrary to helping the artists grow. But once you get a good understanding on what red flags to look for, it gets easier.

Including your brother, who else would you consider major inspirations for your love of music?
Shout out my bro tho!! Nipsey, Tory lanez, Eric Berlinger, Drake, Snoop, Glasses Malone, Easy E, Kanye, Young Dolph, KeyGlock, g Herbo, Comethazine, Sade, Bryson Tiller, Ross, IDK, Tank (don’t judge).

As an artist yourself, what’s your opinion on the current market of hip-hop and R&B and where do you feel like you fit in?
Current state of hip hop is exciting. People still finding new ways to express themselves that’s not traditionally what we’re used to hearing. Like mumble rap. Don’t knock the young bulls for doing them, not everybody wanna rap with the same tempo or timbre you know? Rnb is in a good place. Especially with Afro soul making a STRONG COMEBACK. I think I don’t fit in and that’s what my aim was. If you fit in, you’ll never stand out. I can go from “lemme seranade you my Nubian Queen” to “ get in the car loser..we going trappin” so I can really be placed amongst any genre and hold my own.....except reggaeton.... listen.....my Spanish stops at “ hola”

Tell us about your song “Hunnit”. What was the vision you had for this record and how were you able to ensure you executed this theme?
Hunnit was made with all of my fake friends in mind and I know that’s a topic everybody has had experience in. People who say they are real and will ride for you until it’s time and they switch up. Either keep a - BuzzmusicLA

"FOLLOWING VALENTINES DAY, @WHOTFISJAMESDOE DROPS HIS NEW MIZZHITZ BEATZ-PRODUCED SINGLE, “SET IT OFF”"

Following Valentines Day, while we are all still wrapped in the arms and sheets of that special someone, James Doe is dropping his new, MizzHitz Beatz-produced single, “Set It Off”. This record is the quintessential, February smash. Seductive hi-hats prance across an amorous bash of chords and melodies. Likewise, a gliding 808 bass and smoldering, trap percussion forwards a groove only the most sensual, R&B jams can ferment. As a vocalist, James Doe only elevates the track’s potential. With a Chicago spirit, flavored by Dallas living, the crooner slings melodious, sing-song bars throughout the track. Each drop of a snare; each heartfelt pound of a kick, is chaperoned by hot-blooded harmonies and lustful lyrics. Certainly, “Set It Off” has earned a spot in next week’s bedside playlist; and through its release, James Doe will solidify himself as a R&B talent we must keep our ears on. - Broke2Dope

Bio

James Doe is an emerging hip-hop and R&B artist crafting music from his Chicago studio. And people are starting to take notice – this talented artist has had nearly 100,000 streams on Spotify alone. The son of a DJ and a Lieutenant Colonel, James had a unique upbringing and introduction to music. “I feel I understand music from a different perspective,” he says, and that translates into his sound. Growing up, James idolized his brother who rapped – until he realized that he was better, and stuck with it since. He

went on to graduate from SAE Institute in Atlanta with a diploma in Audio

Engineering, always striving to be better and to grow as an artist.

In 2018, James released his debut album: ‘For Your Consideration’ – and he’ll follow it up with ‘For Your Consideration 2’ this year. For Your Consideration earnt James a loyal fan

base, and the level up that FYC2 can only expand on that. You can hear the work that was put into it; James says, “there’s money in music without selling your soul,” and he’s developed his own sound to back that up. Rather than overly defining his music and genre, James makes music across a spectrum of real life –capturing emotions from hype to heartbreak. Inspired by Jay-Z, James is chasing not just success but constant progress and longevity – and a Grammy or two. With lofty ambitions of true substance, it’s only a matter of time until he gets there.
