James Shaw Harrison

Born in NYC but inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, i'm currently in full-time launch mode of my debut album, "Please Please Fantastic!"
Growing up my father would play Bruce Hornsby in the car, the sounds of which have never escaped me. Inspired by Dave Matthews' Under the Table and Dreaming in the 7th grade, I started taking guitar lessons with Frank Corrado, who encouraged me at an early age to write and record original music (back then we recorded onto a tascam 4 track portastudio). Frank has stayed with me as friend and musician since we started (about 15 years ago), and he is heavily featured on the album playing both bass and the wurlitzer.
In college at Duke University i played sporadic gigs with my friends, many of whom (including myself) were influenced by the 'jam-band' scene, but after college i moved to Asheville, NC to learn and play with some more folk musicians.

Now i'm back at home in the lower east side of Manhattan, playing solo shows around town and looking forward to playing with the full band on July 7th for the record release concert.
