Bio
James Slay is a Hip-Hop/R&B artist born and raised on the Northside of Chicago, IL. His passion for making music began his junior year of high school at Walter Payton freestyling with close friends that would eventually form the Clark & Division music group. Clark & Division has performed in and around Chicago, Boston, and San Diego. After high school, James enrolled at DePaul where he started making music as a solo artist and released his first mixtape Redlines. Before the year was over James followed Redlines with a collaborative mixtape called Humble Beginnings. A year later he started experimenting with other genres outside of Rap and Hip-Hop and released XXYYXX. In the summer of 2017 James released his first professional mixtape FYR under the Manatee Record label. Since FYR, James has been promoting the mixtape through performances around Chicago, music videos, and social media.
