Bio

My Name is James Abberley, I was borne November seventh 1991. I grew up in a small country town called Owen roughly 100km north of Adelaide. When I was 15 my mum and dad bought me first Guitar, and quickly learnt to love it. I am now nineteen and I have been writing my own music for the past three years. I have enjoyed recording my own songs for majority of that time, in between doing gigs and radio interviews on various stations including ABC. I feel have been quite successful so far in my young career as a musician, playing at numerous venues including a residency at the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel.
My favorite artists include Gotye, Jose Gonzales, Lior and the Butterfly Effect, who have been inspirational to my passion for music. Generally I find I write most about my personal experiences and the things I see around me, and of course inescapably and sometimes even indirectly, love. From the moment I started playing the guitar I was always creating my own stuff, of course finding inspiration in the music that I would listen to, but never aspiring to sound like anyone ells. I find the search for my own sound to be far to exciting. I consider my music to have a strong Folk influence but I feel comfortable in just about all forms of music. I feel there are elements of blues and routs, and maybe even sometimes a bit Classical, I guess it changes with every song.
I have spent the past two years working on my debut Album ‘Some Kind of Relief’. The album was a lot of fun and I am very excited to have it finished. I have met a lot of great people who all did an amazing job while we worked on the album. Music really does bring people together.
