James Darr

James Darr

BandPopRock

Melodic vocal melodies, lush guitars, heavy organ and piano sounds sitting on a beautiful, tight rhythm section. Featuring the hit single "Run" which is currently #22 on the ACQB Radio Chart, James Darr live in concert is definately a show that is felt as much as it seen or heard.

Biography

Born and raised in western Canada, James Darr began playing the piano at the age of 4 before picking up the guitar at age 13. From his classical, less creative roots he quickly became interested in writing music and working with his own ideas, forming his first band when he was just 15 years old. His brother played bass and another teenage friend played the drums. Over the next six years he would go on to front many groups ranging in genre from "acoustic pop rock" to "heavier alternative punkish rock". Becoming weary of the dramatic band break-ups and constant personality conflicts, James decided to focus on writing music alone while delving more into the world of European Rock, piano and orchestra based music. He began writing music almost exclusively on the piano as opposed to the guitar which was a major adjustment. After writing and recording a few young rock projects from 2001-2006 he took some time away from it all before fully submersing himself in songwriting once again in mid 2007. The results speak for themselves on the debut EP which is available for download right here and the CD is available at www.jamesdarrmusic.com. The CD which was released April 21, 2009 online, is lush guitars, rich orchestral parts and melodic vocal melodies entrenched in mature lyrics. This EP outlines James' classical roots coming together with the influences of his youth to create his individual style of songwriting. Recorded with Producer Jeffery David in his Los Angeles studio, this record boasts such talent as Matt Bissonette (Joe Satriani, David Lee Roth, Daniel Glen Timms, Julian Lennon, Steve Perry, Brian Wilson, Don Henley, Ty Tabor (of King's X), Tom Andrews, and Peter Frampton) who plays the Cello and Electric Bass throughout the EP, Ben West (Keys/Loops) and Dan Strain on guitars.

Lyrics

Run

Written By: James Darr

Can you feel
This pain can cut through cold hard steel
As you walk away
I can feel your heavy heart break free

Now's your time
to find the strength to leave it behind
Away from this place
Of peace, divinity and grace

You will run away from here
The past will drown in healing tears

Walk alone
Never again your safe in these arms
So come close and stay close
For I will never be very far

You will run away from here
The past will drown in healing tears

The past can be
The truths taught over time to me
So run with me I'm anything you need me to be
so run with with me and see this love set you free

You will run away from here
The past will drown in healing tears

With Me

Written By: James Darr

This place has buried it's face
And I'm soaked with the lies
That drown our senses over time

Down here there's love and it's fears
Alone, where did you go
Tonight it's left to second chances past

I can see I'm nothing with out you with me
And I can see without you I will never be free
So please never leave me alone for I'll fail and I'll fall on my own

Look deep into these eyes
Deep into the skies
To see the satisfaction in my soul

I can see I'm nothing with out you with me
And I can see without you I will never be free
So please never leave me alone for I'll fail and I'll fall on my own

Pictures Fade

Written By: James Darr

Chances taken memories fading
will I ever be
The man I always wanted them to say they saw in me
Mistakes we've made for better days account for all the useless ways
We try to clean the dust off of our souls

Pictures fade in time here
It's like I've never even been here Your broken down asleep on the floor
There's no hinges left on your hearts door

Sunset haze ends another day in this old broken town
The fading light around us seems to be the clearest sound
Make no mistake it's love we take and you might be alone
But now it's dark and you're not at home

Pictures fade in time here
It's like I've never even been here Your broken down asleep on the floor
There's no hinges left on your hearts door

Weight Of The World

Written By: James Darr

Will I ever become
Overwhelmed and overdone
Truth or truth perceived
The love I've never received

Have I ever become
Innocent passion the sum
Of everything I've ever been
In everything I've ever seen

I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders
Tonight you'll find the weight of the world on my shoulders

If I ever become
Perfectly unable to run
visions on the wall passing time
Thoughtful not the jealous kind

I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders
Tonight you'll find the weight of the world on my shoulders

All For You

Written By: James Darr

You would not believe
The words that I've seen said in grief
And you, you make me feel
Make the world seem real to me

I will be all for you
This time for you I swear
And if you fall I'll be there
To pick you up and dust you off

You can never go
So you'll never show yourself
And you are broken down
And you see the crowds standing all around

I will be all for you
This time for you I swear
And if you fall I'll be there
To pick you up and dust you off
To pick you up and dust you off

You, you wanted to know
You wanted to show yourself to me
And I, I wanted to know
I wanted to show you that this is me
That this is me

I will be all for you
This time for you I swear
And if you fall I'll be there
To pick you up and dust you off
To pick you up and dust you off
To pick you up and dust you off

Beauty And The Grace

Written By: James Darr

Now the love and the cost of the sides
Has eaten you up inside
Hungry for more disguise
To soak away the tears you've cried

To feel the love
The beauty and the grace inside of
This love for each other despite
All our wrongs we make right

Now the strain and the loss coincides
with the break down in our compromise
A reflection of our love in your eyes
Is it beautiful or demons disguise

To feel the love
The beauty and the grace inside of
This love for each other despite
All our wrongs we make right

To feel the love
The beauty and the grace inside of
This love for each other despite
All our wrongs that we make seem alright

Set List

The typical set list does not include covers. That said, there are no rules against doing so with in the band. Generally the song "Run" (the first single released to radio) serves as the opening to the set. "Beauty And The Grace" is almost always the closer with the other 4 tracks from the EP filling up the show along with the much anticipated NEW material which James' has been working on and plans to record in the fall.
