"James Evans"

JAMES EVANS - A FOUR PIECE BAND WITH SOME GOOD DIVERSITY. A RANGE OF PUNK TO ALTERNATIVE TO PROGRESSIVE ROCK WAS WELL PRESENTED. I MET MOST OF THE BAND MEMBERS AND THEY SEEM VERY COOL AND PROFESSIONAL. SEVERAL SONGS REMINDED ME OF THE " B 52'S ". BUT OVERALL, THEY DID A GOOD JOB OF MIXING LYRICS WITH PACE. A POP PUNK SOUND THAT WAS AVERTED FROM SONG TO SONG BY MIXING IT UP. CHANGING PACE IS CRUCIAL IN A PREPARED SET. BEING DIVERSE KEEPS THE AUDIENCE 'S ATTENTION. I DUG THIS BAND. - The Nail

"James Evans, Need"

James Evans debut album, Need, offers contemporary music a voice that is both engaging and detached in its approach to unveiling the complexities of wrought, human emotion. Evans creates his own aesthetic, mixing vivid mood and sensual lyrics with sonic exploration that mirrors the investigation we experience as humans This ten-song collection abandons convention, creating unique song structure and unmarked melodies. His voice is one that will linger, almost haunt, once you've turned off the music, paralleling his honest lyrics that remain in your head long after the song is over. Evans is quite possibly writing some of the greatest "life songs" ever in his depiction of struggle, reward, and candor. Abandoning convention with his unique song structure and melodies, Evans presents an album that is seducing to the palate of those looking for an innovative approach to alternative, modern rock. Borrowing heavily from the musical styling of Sonic Youth, Jeff Buckley, and Morrissey, Evans is creating a sound that is accessible to a mainstream audience and filled with enough invention to satisfy the modern art-rock elitist. It's a contradiction that works. This album has been collaged together over a period of years, and that struggle to lend one's self to the creative process is distinct in each track on this album. His voice, mystical and captivating is one that will linger long after the song has finished, one you won't want to forget. - Carrie Addington

"James Evans-Need"

A rare voice that breaks generational boundaries and soars beyond generic walls. A wonderfully heartfelt CD of songs that are sonically rich but also full of emotional depth and lyrical polish about life, love, and living. James Evans sings in a soft but husky voice that is haunting, evocative, and compelling. His songs chronicle the hope, yearning, disappointments, and triumphs of living and loving with wit, humor, empathy, and yearning. NEED is both well done and well titled! You need this album. -Michael O'Hara - Flag Pole-Michael O'Hara
