james hilborne and the painkillers, interesting story.. ya see, it all started with a green sweater that layne staley gave james years ago. it was a very special sweater, it meant alot to james. anyway, we were playing some shows frequently at a perticular club in sea. and one show james accidentaly left his sweater there. the next day we call about the sweater. no problem, it will be here says the bartender. so next show james inquires about his green sweater and the bartender pulls out the garbage can from behind the bar and looks in it and says, no green sweater. snobishly. obviously dosnt understand the severity of the situation and trys to make it all better with a tripple shot of tequila for james. now heres where the divine intervention comes into play. james gets drunk and fires the whole band that night excluding me of course. so we wake up the next day with no band.. oh! did i say divine. yes. divine!! so james and i are talking to a friend of ours the next day rick king who owns guitar maniacs in tac. and him and i are talking gear and we mentioned the green sweater incodent from the night before and he says.. aw hell...screw all those guys lets get our own thing goin on. and so now you have the birth of JAMES HILBORNE AND THE PAINKILLERS. all those other guys were assholes anyway. so.... thanks for the sweater layne!!!
james and billy have been playing music together for five years or so. pleyed the layne staley tribute @ the showbox in sea. as well as every other premier club. done some touring, mostly west coast stuff.
our music is a reflection of our personalities. james hilborne(folk), rick king(punk,garage), billy stambaugh(rock). put it in a pot on simmer and there you go.. JAMES HILBORNE AND THE PAINKILLERS..
