James Jacket

James Jacket is the solo project of a musician best known for his work in bands doing Art Punk and New Wave. (Les Baton Rouge and The Watchout Sprouts. His musical career started to take shape when in the end of 1998 he formed (among Suspiria Franklyn) the group Les Baton Rouge.
The first edition comes out with Munster Records and right after that they were able to promote it with tours around Europe.
Right after that they sign with Elevator Music from New York and the coast to coast tours start as well as the 150 shows or more every year.
Between 2001 and 2004 they launch one 7inch, 1 Ep and 2 Lp´s, 2 major tours are made across Europe and 3 tours across USA. They play in mythical clubs like CBGB´s, SXSW festival, Crocodile Café and Coliseums across Europe. Their Lp "My body- The pistol reaches the first places in CMJ American Charts.
Maximum Rock and Roll wrote "Les Baton Rouge is great post punk in the true sense, they may be lumped into riot girl but it´s way cooler than that".
During that same period they shared stages with artists like Sylvain Sylvain (New York Dolls), Dick Dale, Jello Biafra, Peaches, Joan Jett and many others.
In 2010, James Jacket was also the Co-founder (among Nuno Maltês) of The Watchout Sprouts (Noise Rock, Avant-Garde, New Wave). They´ve been setting on fire stages all across Portugal. A new EP is almost ready to hit the market.
Right now, James Jacket appears once again, this time as a solo artist, combining music with image, with a totally different approach to music. The abrasive rock gives place to more intimistic and subtler atmospheres.
His sound is in a category of it´s own. Post-rock, No-wave, Avant-garde and Electronica are genres that influence him.
