Phoenix's Song

Written By: James M. Lucas Jr.

I don't know how to tell you, what you mean to me. I don't know how to say it, but son you set me free. The first time I saw you teardrops filled my eyes. There's no better feeling than a father's pride. So if anything should happen, and God forbid it ever does. Know your daddy loves you and remember these few words. You are the light in your daddy's eyes. My favorite chapter to read in the story of my life. As time keeps passing on, whatever journey you might take, you'll always have this song, and daddy's love will never fade.... Away, away, away, away. I don't know how to tell you, but you changed your daddy's life. A brand new inspiration to help me hold my chin up high. Lessons I have learned, stories I could tell, all the songs your daddy wrote, son I hope they teach you well. So if anything should happen, and God forbid it ever does, know your daddy loves you and remember these few words. You are the light in your daddy's eyes. My favorite chapter to read in the story of my life. As time keeps passing on, whatever journey you might take, you'll always have this song, and daddy's love will never fade.....Away, away, away, away. Away, away, away, away.

Red, White, and Blue

Written By: James M. Lucas Jr.

Well there's a blood red color on the wall of the room where she sits there by herself, and there's a blood red color in her eyes when she thinks of him. It was a rainy day in the middle of april when the two men rang the bell and said "Sorry mamm but you're husband ain't coming home. Well she starts to cry and her knees got week as she falls down to the floor, and they hand her a flag and say " You're husband served his country well." And it's just another story of the American dream. Too many things we take for granted. Too many smiles lost in between. So try each day to be thankful for everything you've got. Cause what you've got this morning, tomorrow you might not. And the road goes on.....Red, White, and Blue, yeah the road goes on.... There's a blue sun shining through the bedroom window on a dusty old bookshelf, on a picture of a couple starting out trying to do there best. There was a white dove singin' on a willow branch and she can't forget the smell of the jasmine blooms that were hanging from the wedding bells. Like a worn out record of a sad old song it keeps playing back in her head, when she told him she wouldn't be there when he got home. And like a lonsome whistle on a south bound train her soul just fades away, and she can't seem to find the strength to carry on. And it's just another story of the American dream. Too many things we take for granted, too many smiles lost in between. So try each day to be thankful for everything you've got. Cause what you got this mornin, tomorrow you might not. And the road goes on....... Red, White, and Blue. Yeah the road goes on.....Red, White, and Blue.

Song For Dad

Written By: James M. Lucas Jr.

Well I remember the first time when you looked me in the eyes and said be strong son. And you took me by the hand and said be a loving man and you'll be fine son. And you showed me what it means to love you're family even through hard times. You would have gave up all you had if you thought things were bad for me and mama. I know nobody's perfect, but you've been with me all the while, so daddy when you hear this..... I hope you smile! Now when I see a passin' train, I know a railroad man can't be home like he want's to. But I love you just the same cause you always did every damn thing that you could do. And when I look back on my life, I know I always had the things I really needed. You taught me never to give up, so even if I'm down I've never been defeated. I know nobody's perfect, but you've been with me all the while, so daddy when you hear this..... I hope you smile. Well now I'm growin' up. I got a little one to take care of my self now. And I think more everyday about the little things you'd say I took for granted. I know that it's not easy to give you're life up for you're child, so daddy when you hear this.... I hope you smile. I know nobody's perfect, but you've been with me all the while, so daddy when you hear this..... Smile.....Daddy smile.
