Bio
James has always had a soft spot for the tunes that tug on the heart strings and despite a few high school years spent in a heavy rock/nu metal band, James has really been a singer/songwriter from the beginning. Growing up at a funeral home, the music he heard as a child was often organ-based hymns but his parents' vinyl collection did importantly feature Cat Stevens and John Lennon. From there it was piano lessons, a beach boys cassette tape from a Swedish exchange student, various phases of pop punk and brit pop through his teens and then combining more modern influences like The Shins, Augie March, Sufjan Stevens and Radiohead with his classics like Bob Dylan. His carrer as a soloist has only been short but he has played in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Darwin outside of his native Hobart and supported Alex Loyd when he toured to the island in December 2007. His debut E.P was released independently after that before a half year trip to Europe which saw some new material start to develop. Now he is back down under and has hooked up a backing band to fill out his sound live and do more shows around the big Australia!
