Sunlight Through The Rain

Written By: James Taylor

Sometimes she speaks to me and nothing seems to hurt me any more -
It's just one of her little charms;
I feel that I can rise above the stupid things that used to make me fall,
When I hold her in my arms.
She helps me ride the stormy tide,
She keeps me persevering and I see
How fortunate I've become;
I'd never found a place to stay,
But now it gets clearer by the day
That I've found my only one:

Every time the storm clouds threaten to darken my skies,
All I got to do is take a look in her eyes,
For then I know that she will melt away my pain -
She's like sunlight through the rain.

I never really thought that I could get to feel a love so strong -
Now it's never going to fade away;
And just as it seems as if everything I do is going wrong,
She knows just the right words to say.
She remedied my aching heart,
She tore my stupid fears apart,
She came down, she made it all seem alright,
And I just know I won't forget
The way that she came down and set me free
From all those lonely nights:

Every time the storm clouds threaten to darken my skies,
All I got to do is take a look in her eyes,
For then I know that she will melt away my pain -
She's like sunlight through the rain.

I know we're never going to leave one another,
We'll always have each other near here -
There's nothing left to fear!
It's just sunlight all the way.

I'm Still Loving You

Written By: James Taylor

I remember the day
You first walked my way -
You were walking down to the shore,
And you were smiling at me,
And I could see
You had your foot in my door:

I just knew everything was gonna be alright -
No more worry, my future was bright;
As long as you are by my side,
I'm just happy being alive, and

I'm still loving you,
I'm speaking true -
There's nothing else I can say!
Let's enjoy days of youth,
Enjoy the truth:
We're still in love today.

Love plays silly games,
But just the same,
Nothing's gonna change my heart:
We are still one and all,
Divided we'll fall -
We're never gonna be apart.

Love is blind, but I can see crystal clear:
Now I know my happiness is here;
Don't need to worry, everything's my way -
This is how I want my life to stay,
and

I'm still loving you,
I'm speaking true -
There's nothing else I can say!
Let's enjoy days of youth,
Enjoy the truth:
We're still in love today.

This is how I dreamed love was meant to be;
Now I know you're made for me, and

I'm still loving you,
I'm speaking true -
There's nothing else I can say!
Let's enjoy days of youth,
Enjoy the truth:
We're still in love today.

Living Again

Written By: James Taylor

Stuck inside an office, like an air-conditioned graveyard
For all the little dreams she had,
She made her weekly target with a day or two to spare –
Time enough for her to go mad.
She doesn’t care about promotion!
Oh, it’s such an empty notion
That a couple more grand could stop her feeling so bad;

But deep down inside her,
There still burns a fire –
There’s still a dreamer in this corporate clone;
From every gloomy Monday
To every quiet Sunday,
She feels that she’s drawing blood from a stone,
But the dreamer’s still dreaming that soon she’ll be living again.

On another journey to another destination,
But somehow they all look the same;
Well, they say he’s pretty clever, but he’s feeling pretty stupid
With a meaningless title to put by his name –
Oh, they stories that they told him!
The lies that they all sold him!
He just wasn’t built for such a ruthless game;

But now he’s getting stronger,
He won’t take it for much longer,
And they can only own him for so many years;
Well, they say he lacks ambition,
But he knows he’s on a mission
To confront and to conquer his deepest fears,
And when he’s succeeded, he knows he’ll be living again.

He sees her looking lonely,
Then she turns and looks his way;
He’s feeling really nervous,
But she smiles as if to say:
“Hey, stranger, don’t be scared now,
Won’t you spend some time with me?
We could make each other happy,
We could set each other free!”

Well, he won’t serenade or charm her,
He’s no knight in shining armour,
And he’s not come to rescue a damsel in distress,
But that doesn’t really matter –
She’s not easy to flatter,
And he knows straight away she’s no fairytale princess,
But one way or another, they know they’ll be living again.

I Still Love Stadium Rock

Written By: James Taylor

Well, I've heard a lot of music, and I've always been taught
To develop a discerning taste,
But if you look at half the music I have bought,
You can see that teaching's gone to waste.
See, music should be subtle, clever, refined,
Not melodramatic and brash;
So why do I devote my heart and my mind
To this overblown, bombastic trash?

See, I'm a middle-class boy with a middle-class job,
And I went to independent school;
I'm exactly the kind of intellectual snob
You'd call the opposite of cool.
But if you put on Meatloaf, Queen or Kiss,
I could give you one hell of a shock -
You may not believe it, but I still love stadium rock,
I still love stadium rock.

Well, I don't ride a Harley or race my cars,
And I never went to war or jail;
But my heart's been broken, and I carry the scars
Of knowing how it feels to fail,
'Cause I've never been a drunk, or addicted to drugs,
But I've taken my share of knocks;
And I guess that's why I still love stadium rock,
I still love stadium rock.

Now, better music may move my heart,
But it doesn't speak straight to my soul;
And just when I think it's all falling apart,
It helps me to regain control.
See, I hear the guitars, and I hear the drums,
Turn up the volume until my teeth rattle in my gums -
I cry out, "Hey world, no, I'm not alright,
But I'm not going down without a fight!"

Well, it's not exactly Shakespeare, Wordsworth or Keats,
And it's got its fair share of cliches.
It's very simplistic, uses primitive beats -
Yeah, it's crap in a million ways.
But it's helped me out so many times,
It would be pretty ungrateful to mock
The worst and the best - I still love stadium rock,
I still love stadium rock!

It's the worst and the best - I still love stadium rock!
Well, it's the worst and the best, and I still love stadium rock!
