Bio
Jamie the Walker has been writing, singing and playing music from an early age.
He was captivated by the singing cowboy characters of his youth and the Beatles changed everything like they did for most of his generation. Seeing early versions hometown bands Aerosmith and the J. Geils band cemented the deal. A stream of bands marked time as Jamie grew and eventually raised a family. Eventually his band Swinging Steaks was signed to Capricorn/Warner Bros in 1992 and toured on an ill-timed release with The Band and Los Lobos, with dates with Jason and the Scorchers, Paul Westerberg and the Black Crowes (Warner Bros dropped Capricorn distribution as the Steaks record hit the streets in the fall of 1993). After several self-released follow-ups the Steaks stopped touring and returned to the 'real world' despite appearing on Conan O'Brien, Mountain Stage, and being featured in film soundtrack (Benefit of the Doubt 1993) and TV show background music.
Jamie continues to write, record and play after raising a family of 4 kids. Check out his stuff, inspired underneath it all by Texas singer songwriters like Butch Hancock, Joe Ely, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Terry Allen but injected with early 70's British invasion influence and late 60s pop music.
